Both Zhou YiRan and Bao ShengEn are very new actors, so went into this without much expectation, but was surprise that they both are doing well with their roles. I have more issues with the editing and how some scenes are pace is not the easiest to watch. However I also like at least they tried to bring back some nostalgia from old WuXia drama with proper fight stunts.
If you do pick this up, I am keen to hear how you feel too;).

It’s not very common where c drama story has one where the villian is the ML. Most plot will give redemption arc or white wash the villian very quickly. But what I like about this story so far is that, there is no white washing or need for redemption arc. Till this far ML is true to his villian character, scheming, manipulative and revengeful, his method is destructive and extreme but as you watch, one will understand that his behaviour was driven by environmental circumstances. And ultimately the righteous sects are not exactly righteous. Ultimately his aim was still to eventually unite all the sects and removed the labels of good vs bad.
So if this director execute the characters’ arc well with the actors’ able to portray it well, then it’s really a great watch.

He is a loyal friend to ML and probably is the third CP.

I also sus about him, and find him more likely to be the man in black instead of the teacher.

Well we have seen quite a couple of FL being coroner which is also a taboo profession; butcher isn’t that bad. I only wonder how she has such strength being so small build. The director here set it up well, and TXW also plays her role well, so very believable. So now I want to see how she plays being a General in future.

The 6sects just want a convenient reason to kill Mu Clan because ML’s uncle snatch their love interest (FL’s Aunty).

The first minute of first ep. I felt bad for the pig😓.
I must say Tian Xi Wei looks pretty good in this role.

The few themes that kept surfacing: “evil sect can only be evil, good sect are always good even they kill people”; and no one talks properly to each other, or tells the truth, as everyone just choose to assume according to their perception…
In this JiangHu, all the older generation’s men secretly loves Cai Zhao’s aunty, and in the newer generation, all the men are also infatuated with Cai Zhao😅.
10 ep left, I am sure it will drag for a while more.

Yes, to how some parts feel rush. But I expected that for mini series, glad that it wrapped up nicely😍. So true about the title and it’s symbolic theme.

Can’t watch now😓. Will catch on later. Another female general role, let’s see how this plays out;)

I am done! Truly enjoy the story, love the twists and the meaningful themes behind the story and characters. I would have enjoy reading it as a short novel or a stage play. It has its imperfection as a mini drama, especially the editing between scenes and the flow, overall its coherent. The leads are superb here, very natural chemistry. Some cliches plotlines but still pretty fun, lots of ‘chicken soup’ dialogue. The villian ending is rather anti-climatic but well wrapped up. I sure will check out this script writer future work;)
