Yup, give another few more ep. RenMing is quite suitable for this role, her voice and acting suits the character. I guess it’s because the story starts in the middle where lots of her background situation were narrated along the ep., hence it can feel a bit weird. Till ep 5, I find the story became clearer.

I like RenMing as an actress and she definitely can act if one seen her other works. And agreed with you that her voice suits the role.

Shogun in based on a novel adaptation by James Clavell written 1975. Set in war time 1600 where there were lots of political instability within Japan. The old Emperor died and the whole nation was entrusted to the warlords to fight for power. The drama will follow a British merchant’s perspectives caught up in the political turmoils. This drama also received good recognition and awards. Let you know more if I finish it;).

Yup the latest ep., she realised that although the prescription was from ancient book, she only found out that it is harmful. She was contemplating on whether to tell him. However Granny reminded her that ML survives now on false hope, so she didn’t tell the truth. That has been her struggle since she knew the baby may not be saved. She is also unwilling to accept her love one is dead hence still searching. The theme of accepting the truth or hold on to even the slightest hope will be a resurfacing arc. We probably only see the growth in the end.

Yup, FL is strong, witty and resourceful, bullied by the other mothers, a grandma that dotes her. I may drop this as not in the mood for family politics among women and a useless father. I tried first few ep., the story didn’t quite capture me😅.

In this show, Li Qin is really not suitable to be his CP, vibes not matching. Zeng ShunXi just feels like a boy and the big sister. Maybe this drama is trying to remake a new Yang Guo and his Gugu version;)

I can see what you mean, ‘the older version’, lol! But watching more ep., I am going to say that Liu XueYi is definitely more charismatic🤣.

I didn’t like his acting in the other two roles. Hopefully I will like his acting here. You will know his character more in latest ep.

This story tends to remind me of ‘Blossom in Adversity’, this FL seems to be very similar to Hua Zhi’s character.

I used to watch j drama in the past, but as sometimes their stories tends to be repetitively and focus on triggering strong emotions, so I tend to be very selective on J title. I am watching Shogun, it’s pretty good too.
