Xue FangFei calling Shen Yurong a mean and pathetic man. That must have cut deep for him.I feel bad for Shen Yurong…
As a designed villian, he has the most complex character compare to the step mom or Princess. It may seems that he was driven by Princess to do all those things, that he has no choice. But we always have a choice and options but he choose to save himself or his family and gain his power through being part of the villainous act to Xue family. His feeling remorse is just so that he feel less guilty but til the most recent ep., it is still portraying his cowardly act. Really terrible and worst as on the surface he is an upright scholarly person that hold high values yet his actions shows otherwise. I don’t think he can be easily forgiven unless he sacrifices himself.

If you like Wu Xia, the original 80s version by Hong Kong production was iconic. It’s interesting that China is releasing at one go, a complete version of the whole novel adaptation. As a commenter mentioned is to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the original author, Jin Yong. Being a fan of the old series, I am excited of this;)
