Wow interesting theory. Just caught up with ep 6. This drama does really have a dark underlying tone of child trafficking and hidden murder.
sharing some thoughts, I do agreed that the step father is aware of real Bian Jie’s death and so is his daughter, the nanchaku could also be the weapon involved. Likely the mom knows hence, she has been drugged to not remember things. The best friend who returned also seems to be hiding something or he wasn’t even there when real Bian Jie died, he seems to has to find out about the incident from his own father, so could it be that he was already on the run, so the whole mountain story may be fake.
The show also hinted the possibility of Xiao Qi being the cops son. I was wondering he could just test the DNA, then they will know right? But thinking of it, I felt Xiao Qi may not be his son but a randon kid that was also kipnapped at young age. And just felt that it’s setting up that Xiao Qi may be sacrificed.

It’s common in those times, the previous Emperor could have marry a young consort and after he passed on, this current Emperor is properly only a few years younger then his step mom, and if they are in love, no one can stop them and who dares to rumour about King’s choice😅.

Thanks for your honest review. I agreed with all the points you mentioned. I started this as it was highly recommended by a friend, Initially I like the character for both FL and ML, then the script started to make them all love brain and stupid. I think both actors are great, but the story just went off from a good strong starts to a piece of mess. I dropped it several times and dragged myself to complete it just to see how they end, and I felt it’s such a waste of my time.

In this drama, almost every girl is trying to fight FL for certain men, that is not ML🤣.
