I am also annoyed with Hae Yi .. Her selfless kind-hearted aunt and her amazing teacher are embroiled in an unnecessary…
She's a kid. It's unreasonable to think that a kid would be able to stop the maliciousness of adults. She would just end up as a target herself.

Asian society is not kind to orphans. For some reason they blame the kid when the parents die. They blame the kid when the parents abandon them. They blame the kid even though it's none of their business.

The adults are portrayed as the villains for a reason, in this drama. They are shown to be relentless in their judgement. THEY decide what is morally right and wrong. And if you don't conform, they will change the narrative to benefit them and make the non-conformist into a villain.

Title The Interest of Love Spoiler
I get it.
It's uncomfortable to watch because you see two people who make decisions that go against what they want simply because they are afraid to take the chance. We had 16 episodes of this... which is mind-blowingly FRUSTRATING!!!

But, I get it. This is how a lot of people are. When it comes to life, love, work, not all of us takes the chance when it's given and we regret it.

I did find it interesting how they asked the question of whether they made the love bigger than what it was because they regretted not following through. And I can't help but think that maybe they did.

As someone who loves open endings, this is the first time I understood it, but did not want it. I needed closure. And I didn't get that. And that upsets me. But I won't mark it down because the drama did what it set out to do: it made me question and think about the 'what if's just like our two main characters, and experience regret alongside them.

The acting was stellar. The directing was on point. And the OST is lovely.

This was a frustrating drama, though. Very, very frustrating.

Hmmm.... Based on her personality, I would say murder, embezzlement, child pornography, accusations of rape etc. Basically, anything that is illegal, that could affect her reputation as well as anything that feels like a betrayal.

Marriage is not for everyone. Both parties have to compatible with the married life they create. Love and attraction is just not enough. People divorce because one person wants kids but the other one doesn't. Because one person wants to live in luxury while their partner prefers to save. People also divorce because they disappear into the marriage and they feel like they lost their individuality. And the most common cause of divorce (after an abusive mother-in-law), is one partner not compromising while the other party is expected to compromise each time (which was the case between the FL and ML).

I would enjoy this more if them being on good terms now didn't feel so abrupt. I mean she was burning with anger…
I guess I don't see it as abrupt at all because cheating is triggering for her. It was the worst thing he could have done. The fact that he didn't cheat meant that him fake cheating is nothing. It comes down to a personality trait. What she can and cannot tolerate. There are people who prefer physical cheating to emotional cheating. There are those who prefer cheating to falling out of love. Then there are people like her who can tolerate people falling out of love, unhappiness in a marriage, but cannot tolerate cheating.

It makes sense to me.

They didn't have to add in the rumor about Haeng Seon being "married" but they just had to make Chi Yeol even…
You know how married women from Asian countries are... They judge women who don't get married. They judge women who raise children out of wedlock. They judge women who raise children who are not biologically theirs. They judge children who are orphans (even though that's not their fault). These women go so far as to tell their children not to befriend such children. - It's ridiculous. But true.

An Soo Young's toxic trait is blowing up things that could make her happy because she's afraid that losing it after she tastes happiness will be much worse.

My toxic trait is watching this show as if it won't end with Sang Soo married to Mi Kyung while he periodically cheats on her with Soo Young. :')

It could be that he doesn't like personal conflict vs. workplace conflict. But I understand where he comes from. When your job is to fight and all you do is fight 8 - 12 hours a day, the last thing you want to do is fight when you go home.

Since the FL is an overachiever, it seems like they are simply incompatible unless they both change their ways. He needed to stand his ground from Day 1 and she needed to step back and give him what he wanted from time to time because she didn't lose anything by it.

Glad to help. Asians want to preserve the family unit as much as possible and they are convinced that if anyone wants out, it has to be a faze. In most Asian countries, abuse is not even a legal reason for divorce, even though it should be. Adultery, Malicious Desertion, Impotence are the main reasons for divorce. And if you're claiming through separation, you need to prove you've been separated for either 2 to 7 years. Getting a divorce is hard in Asian countries.

Settling out of court is the fastest way to divorce, and that can only happen if both parties agree to the divorce. Otherwise, you can be wrapped up in court for years.

As you know with counseling, you need the consent of both parties. As for Separation, the court only recognises one: Legal Separation. Where both parties sign a contract that they are separated. Now, if they didn't sign a contract willingly, the person who leaves can be sued for malicious desertion by the person who stayed. They can sue them for a ridiculous amount, tie it up in courts for years and blackmail them into coming back home.

I remember seeing a brief flashback where he asked for a divorce. We don't know if he asked for one and she refused, which lead him to creating the fake affair. But I do know, that people like him, who give and give and give, they let people take because it's their personality. Mostly people-pleasers end up in this situation because they prioritize comfort and peace over conflict. Then one day, they reach their limit. And they are done. They want out no matter what. And they want out in the quickest way possible. Knowing her personality and the fact that he didn't want to work on their marriage, I get why he did what he did. He just wanted out from a suffocating marriage and he was too tired from fighting with her over small things. He wanted to be comfortable. And he knew she wouldn't let him go, and would try and work on the marriage. But he didn't want that.

I totally was not expecting such a reasonable reason for him to want a divorce XDSeeing how miserable Eun Bum…
Marriage is the only contract in the world where you need the consent of both parties to cancel it. The only one. Every other contract, if one person wants out, they can get out. You pay the compensation and leave, for any reason. Unfortunately, especially in Asian countries, courts lean towards not granting a divorce even if one party wants out. So the only way to get a divorce easily is to convince the other party about the divorce. You will be surprised by how many people cheat or fake-cheat because they know that's the only thing that will make their partner let them go.

Generally, people do this when they are tired of fighting. Counseling and separation is not as easy as people think.

I'm not from Korea, but most Asian countries are similar when it comes to marriage laws. Asian countries have less legal reasons to divorce than in the west. If both parties agree, divorce is easy in South Korea. They can pick any reason they want. If one party disagrees, you have a handful of reasons to claim divorce.

Adultery is a reason for divorce. So legally, he is considered the reason for the marriage ending. And the wife can claim compensation as a result. Usually, the compensation is calculated based on how much the husband earns per month, if the compensation is court mandated. (eg:- When the party at fault is asked to give compensation but he refuses or if the party asking for compensation asks for an amount that the party who is at fault cannot pay).

We don't know the particulars of their divorce but... Knowing Ha Ra's personality, just to be petty, there is a chance she asked for 3 million to punish him, knowing that it was too much. And knowing Eun Beom and how much he wanted out, he agreed without fighting her on it. - Once both parties agree, the court does not get involved.

Infidelity is legal, but if you get hurt by it, you can claim compensation for it in a civil court.

I was a divorce lawyer for several years before making the move to the corporate sector. This was the only client of mine who ended up with her ex-husband after the divorce.

And yes, it's surprising, but the main reason majority of the people cheat in marriages is because of lack of partnership between them. A lot of people dream of their wedding but not of their marriages and no one is truthful regarding what marriages entail. A lot of people get married not knowing how to share, how to argue or how to accept criticism, and that leads to divorce with or without cheating.
