Ikr! The character is so inconsistent! At least you managed to get to ep20. I can’t even force myself to continue…
I guess I’m just not fond of leaving things unfinished. As a result, it almost always brings me nothing but frustration. But hey, some dramas actually do make up for their flaws by the end! 😅
I’m fine with the qualities you mentioned as long as the characters strive to be better. (A couple of great examples are Li Leyan from The Long Ballad and Princess Yangying from A Journey to Love). However, they seldom do, so it often gets really upsetting.
Also, am I the only one bothered by Bao Jian Feng's acting? His facial expression, for some unknown reason, irks my nerves.

I am just never the type to drop a drama, no matter how trashy it may get. 😅
Aside from the constant make-out scenes—which grossed me out the second time I watched it. What I am most irritated about is how complacent she was when they're literally being hunted down while Sima Jiao's gravely injured. You'd think she'll mature and start to work on herself, but, nope, she just never did.
Also, she 'presumably' died on ep.20 after the again, defensive magical necklace failed to protect her and the preview for ep.21 shows that she got an amnesia. The Effin overused trope is that.
It's really a wonderful decision that you dropped it sooner. I still have 33 more episodes to cringe on. Smh Hahaha!
Your review is spot on! I'm in EP.20 right now after bearing through the unbearable 18th episode, and God knows of how much tolerance I had to exert just to go passed that. FL was fine during the first 10 episodes, not until she started becoming increasingly willful after her relationship full developed with Sima Jiao. I find it completely ridiculous that she failed to be rational in differentiating the cause of effect of to kill vs to get killed, when all she's been mumbling about is to LIVE.
I can totally relate with your feedback. I can't comprehend how audacious the female lead is. I dealt with it by thinking that she may be looking down on the emperor because she's thinking that he's a puppet of the eunuch, however It's clear that she has respect for him so i don't know now how I can justify her actions.
I'm in Ep.36 right now and I went back here to read some insights aligned to mine. You hit the mark in all aspects. This drama was unnecessarily prolonged. The plot would've been fine if they allowed the characters to move forward with whatever their goal is without going in a loop of events. I can't even enjoy the love story at this point. /Sighs/
What a coincidence to stumble upon you here. I clicked to comment the same thing and you just happen to be here…
I'm totally hoping for that too. Whatever is going on with your life currently, I sincerely wish that it goes according to your plans and best interests. Jiayou! 💪
I totally agree about the story taking an unexpected turn halfway through. Although it didn't stray from its original theme, I was taken aback by how it suddenly turned political. Which later made some sense as they're preparing for the main conflict of the story. I just hope they made Fei Wenxuan even a bit more sensible, family wise.
"Personally I didn't like the actress (fl) much idk why. But her acting is not problem nor the character." - This phrase caught my attention because I also feel the same. Jing Tian is actually l fine here, but watching her in another show "Wonderful of Love" halt me from watching it after the first episode.
This one truly bend my tolerance to the extent of breaking. 🥲
Ohh, I see. You're funny. I have friends but they don't share the same hobby/past time as I did. and fr!! Mingling with people is the most draining activity ever.

It seems like you've really watched quite a handful of dramas. I used to do that before but can't for the past couple of years because my attention kept on diverting to some other things.
Haven't watched Vigilante. This is even my first time knowing about it. I read its description and it does look interesting.

For real. I cannot imagine watching this first before Yanxi Palace. Because if I did, I might have skip Yanxi. Haha.
I'm currently watching "Si Jin" starring Zhang Wanyi & Jing Tian.
I heard of Taxi Driver but haven't really watched it.
Btw, aside from Princess Han. I also love the Queen. I think she's the most intelligent yet cruel character in their kingdom. lol
