I’m back to continue this drama. Ra Ik was stressing me out after episode 3 and I needed a break.😅 I’m glad I resumed because episode 4 was really good and the domestic life between Se Na and Ra Ik is really cute. The writers are beautifully capturing the joys and perils of fandom life and the disorientation of life with your bias and experiencing what they’re like behind the scenes on their best and worst days- and loving them unconditionally.
The prosecutor is a jerk and peaked in high school. It’s been at least 10 years and he’s acting like he and Se Na are still there. Truly sad.
I loved this drama and the ending! Lots of drama, chaos, action, and sweet, funny moments. I highly recommend it. Just turn off your logic when it comes to security measures, because you’ll see some hair-brained incidents.😅
At least 40% of incidents were preventable with a common sense security strategy. The main characters often walked into some of the most obvious traps and set themselves up to get swindled. Ultimately, Tewan should have hired a security TEAM and let Sarapi be the lead who goes with him everywhere while the others are posted around the perimeter. How can he and one person fight a funded gang who has guns? Chomuang and her gang were RELENTLESS! I’m glad Nirin finally woke up. Yorch didn’t care about her. He sat back and watched Chomuang beat her bloody and threaten her life. Actions speak louder than words! The police department was terrible, which is the case in every drama I watch. Waynai was the only reliable officer. It’s a miracle anybody in their city is safe.😩
Finally, a villain role! I love this for him. His performance in “Reflections of You” showed he has the acting chops to be a believable and bone-chilling villain. On top of that, his tall height and sharp, handsome looks will add mystique to his character.🔥
The gun belonged to the cop... I think the thief killed the cop & then one of them killed the thief since…
Thank you! That sounds the most plausible. Keisuke is also on that Sakuma family project, so I’m wondering if he’s had anything occur from that which could have added fuel to the fire when his wife got exhorted. It sounds like he lives at work, like most salarymen, then again I don’t know if he just says that because he has a new family to care for. I agree that Makiko should’ve let the whole thing go. The police weren’t going to charge her son as a minor. If anything, she could’ve reported the store manager for the extortion attempt.
I’m perched! After watching the airing of “Golden Egg,” I was waiting for another “gray filter” Japanese drama filled with mystery and entanglements. This drama is scratching the itch!
Episode one is a seemingly slow buildup to an interesting twist. It appears that the kids got a hold of the gun that belonged to either the killer or the cop who happened to be Junnichi’s dad and must have fired it off and popped either the dad or the killer (I can’t remember 😅). Honestly, I’m confused. All I know for sure is they buried the gun and never mention what happened. The full circle moment of this Sakuma Smile murder using that very gun is quite the plot. Anyone in the friend group could be the killer. Naoto was the younger brother with a different mother and had no relationship with the oddball extortionist “Sakuma Smile.” Killing the eldest would slide Naoto into position as the heir of the family business. He mentioned to the detectives receiving threatening letters about their next business development project, but said he threw it away. Naoto had no emotion about the loss and would benefit from his brother being deceased.
Next, we have Makiko and Keisuke. Makiko will do anything to protect her son’s name, even when he’s in error. She agreed to pay Sakuma Smile off for not reporting her son’s shoplifting and giving her the surveillance recording. Keisuke demanded Sakuma Smile sign a written agreement to prevent future extortion attempts. Sakuma Smile took the money and didn’t sign the paper or give the recording. Keisuke was angered by this. We then see Makiko lie to the detectives about why she was at the Sakuma Smile store. Was she protecting her son or giving herself an alibi??? She also pretended to not know Junnichi was a detective despite having said Naoto had told her he talked to Junnichi.
It’s too early to tell, but I’m intrigued. Everyone has a motive and knew where that gun was buried. I’m amazed that the typhoons didn’t raise that shallow burial to the surface ages ago! Now Junnichi is implicated because the murder weapon is connected to their childhood coverup. Will he recuse himself from the case for conflict of interest, use his position to cover up his past, or come clean? He had a whole panic attack when he heard the briefing, so he feels backed into the corner.
Junnichi’s partner is highly perceptive and onto Naoto and Makiko. She also notices things about him as he has no poker face. I also want to point out that the SFX department on this drama is hilarious because how can a rubber, chunky boot heel make clacking sounds and tap dancing sounds on pavement?🤣 I couldn’t help but notice.
He's suspiciously suspicious isn't he? 😂 I m hoping they haven't made it that easy.But then there are only…
Yes! Also, for someone whose friend group is getting wiped out one by one and has a sibling in law enforcement, you’d think he’d be actively supporting the investigation and openly providing information. He has a bit of an attitude with the questioning and only offers information in certain circumstances. Jay also doesn’t seem to mourn either. I find that odd.
Jay is looking like that widow who’s married 6 times and each husband died of mysterious circumstances. It’s a little too convenient that he knows everything about each friend getting a letter and before they kick the bucket, especially when last episode they were all hush-hush with each other about who got a letter. Everyone is lying low. Champ is like, “My name is Wes, and I ain’t in this mess. I’m calling my daddy!” Cherren is always one breath away from a panic attack, clutching that phone and her voice shaking.
Tonkla has to be the biggest moron in the group.😩 He’s not going to make it. We saw how he solves problems. It’s on a flash drive.😩 Jay clocked all his tea.
Jade said personal boundaries and Human Resources don’t exist in his world. We’ve seen this man approach his boss twice in a low-slung bath towel and talk real slick. The crazy part is, it’s working. Kamin is slowly slipping! That cute autopsy doctor weeps.🥀
The killer said he has time! He’s got a graphic design app to make these festive “truth or dare” cards and carefully collects receipts as gifts to his unsuspecting targets, serving “I know what you did last summer!” He sits back and watches his targets panic as their criminal tea spills into their laps and after psychologically torturing them with fear of being found out, he sends them to the grave. It’s giving extreme vigilantism. I’m guessing this person has seen this friend group do a lot of dirt and get away with it. I wonder if he’s been victimized by them and wants revenge.
Technically , Jade should be nowhere near this case due to conflict of interest regarding his brother, but then we’d have no couple.😅
I’m back four months later to wrap this foolishness up. What started out as a cozy comfort watch about a man expanding his horizons with a bucket list and his handsome subordinate joining the adventure, took a sharp turn into a ditch of side character plots and the dumbest misunderstanding known to mankind. Suzume psychologically tortured Keishi with his insecurities, arrested development and passive aggression. It’s as if their ages were reversed. Suzume masqueraded as a content man who talks to stuffed animals and pretends he enjoys being alone. Keishi is too handsome, young, and charming to be chasing a stunted, 39 year old part-time hikkikomori. 😤 I said what I said.😒
He's not really facing anything yet, he hasn't even been officially charged with anything. He's just a suspect…
Yes, but he’s still a suspect and not helping himself pulling up on everybody in fits of rage. I just wish he’d work with his counsel and be more strategic about clearing his name.
If I were Se Na, I would be regretting the time and money I spent stanning this man. Ra Ik has no good sense. Why does he keep taking all these side quests when he’s facing at least 20-30 years? Tbh, I’m finding myself losing emotional investment in his freedom or a potential relationship with Se Na.😅 He’s a bit difficult to cheer for. Maybe Jae Hee had a point after all?😆 I’m more interested in the mystery and getting justice for the deceased. Also, Se Na going into depression because of his dating scandal at the big age she was at the time is giving arrested development- and she IS weird, but so is he, so I guess it works? I wasn’t expecting this shift.😕
Am I the only one shocked they held the funeral at a church instead of the traditional Korean way???
I thought it was a nice touch. Christianity is the largest religion in SK and SK has a strong history in the faith. In fact, it’s a sender country for missionaries. I always appreciate seeing different expressions of Korean life in drama and film.
In one episode they say no one has access to his apartment except the cleaning lady but he was woken up by his…
I believe so. Also, the manager gives strong drama king vibes and was quick to discard Ra Ik at the jail visit, his emotional response looking like a spectacle. At this point, everyone is a suspect. The fact that the deceased had no defensive wounds and it was a clean stab, what the doctor said about it possibly being someone he knows is a plausible theory.
The prosecutor is a jerk and peaked in high school. It’s been at least 10 years and he’s acting like he and Se Na are still there. Truly sad.
