I liked this film, but you are right! As I will write in my resume:The film largely takes place in Brussels and…
thank you for your comment! This adds more detail to what I wrote...As I am currently not in Belgium I did not know the situation there was meanwhile so dire, but I believe it immediately as it mirrors the equally dire situation in many other countries (Germany) at the moment.

I also thought about soup kitchens or a shelter at a minimum. There are soup kitchens where they don't ask you…
your are right, I didn't even think about that but true, in pretty much every Western European country that takes in refugees there are free soup kitchens too.

thanks so much for this very fitting und funny review. I agree with everything you wrote, and even more so, as you mentioned 'because this is my first life' - which to date is my all time favourite drama for the reason you mentioned and many more.
You summed this one up in a great way, and thanks for the chuckles =D

that's a great review and pretty much sums up everthing I intented to write- thanks!

I'd only add that at some point I found it somewhat annoying that the FL was so over the top in make up, impossible hairstyles, nails etc. I found it outright ridiculous that e. g. in the morning, when she sits for work with the disabled brother, like, right after breakfast time, she has new extraordinary nails done, hair like from the red carpet etc. It was so unrealistic, I found it too much.

I agree with almost everything in youre review, but I disagree with Han So-hee generally being a bad actress. She was probably the best Korean actress I've seen in 'my name', I was blwon away by her authentic performance. She was also very good (and different) in 'world of the married'.
I, 'gyeonseong creature' though I didn't even recognise her concerning the acting. She seemed wooden and yes, quite exprexionless, but I thought the whole setting of that show seemed wooden, and the actors like in a bad theater school play, also with the rather strange clothing and street decoration etc.
No Idea why Has So-hee felt this was a good choice for a drama, she can do much better

I agree with you. But I think as some people have already mentioned there are some explanations for the case of…
thanks for your comment!
I agree with many of your remarks and explanations, and I still also agree that this was a comparably good attempt in showing the very acute problems so many peolpe have with mental illness and the stigma coming with them. And yes, there are many really worse (and plain bad) other dramas trying to approach the topic so that's why I said in my headline it indeed was a good try here.
To give one example of really bad messaging concering this topic: I lately watched 'death's game' - and found it awful concerning the messaging. It was nothing but guilt-shaming, blaming and scaring depressive and suicidal people. The message was more or less like: if you kill yourself you will end up in everlasting hellfire, the devil (of course in form of a patent leather clad vixen girl Oo) will take time for you in person to torture you again and again and you will feel guilty for the poor mother you left behind. Does it matter that you were actually a nice and considerate person all your life? Ah, no, it's hell for you, and you should feel like shit forever. That was very bad messaging for depressive people with suicidal thoughts, and I was in awe this got raving reviews and almost nobody actually cared about the messaging in it. That one got a 1-rating from me. - just as an example.

that actor admitted taking drugs. an adult claiming to have taken them 'unknowingly'... srsly? he claimed he was…
It's not about making a saint out of anyone, it's about that merciless witch hunt that takes place in SK when only claims of drug use are in the air. Even if he did take drugs, the right way would have been that police do NOT give sensationalising (and in other countries confidential!!) information to the press to start this witch hunt before there was any legal proof f anything - or no proof. Innocent until proven gulity - by COURT, not the media and internet trolls.

Review Death's Game
I fully agree with all you said and hence save myself from writing a review as you said pretty much everything I wanted to say.
I too had trouble with the non-philosphical approach and the very strong scare messaging of 'no matter how bad your life is for suicide you will go to a hundred hells' - Also the fact that personified death would take so much time and effort torturing an actually nice guy who was probably depressed and took his own life instead of going after dying gang rapers, dictators, child molesters etc? Why would death spend so much time on this one guy?
To add one thing I thought it was once again not much storytelling or character building and insted lots of violence and torture porn - like in sooo many recent dramas, I'm just totally fed up with that and wish there aws more focus on the story and details of characters instead of yet another chainsaw massacre bloodfest.

I think you have to understand that the solutions were limited to 1/2 episodes as each patient was introduced…
I won't reply in detail to most things you said as everything I could write is already either in my review or in the answers below. Please read and understand what's already written there at least twice.

Apart from that I would like to say that I find it rather brazen to simply assume I wouldn't have any personal deeper knowledge of the topics shown, be it my own experiences or direct with others around me, be it personal or professional, as you say - quote - 'but youre being too critical because you just watched the show and didn't ponder or think about anything they showed us. '
I didn't ponder or think about anything they showed? That comes across as quite an arrogant assumption to make, and just shows you obviously didn't read my review or the answers beneath and concluded I might have very personal insight on one thing or the other. To say you have read and undestood my review and then throw such sentence at me is more than off. I won't reply to you any further so save you the trouble of typing - all the best!

although I see what you're aming at I strongly disagree with with what you say about Korean society being much…
well, I'd recommend you'll read my post again. I have nothing to do with China, and I'd be glad if you wouldn't suggest that or any other thing in that direction. My information is rather first hand I'd say, from Koreans, in Korea. The news articles concerning this are in the Korean news, written by Koreans, in Korea. My personal experience of losing a Korean friend to suicide because of the highly toxic society there some years ago, someone I knew personally and intimately as a friend for 15 years, also is first hand and also has nothing to do with China by the way.

You seem to think you are the only person who is informed and knows 'the truth' - well, let me assure you, also you aren't, you can guess as much as anyone else who is willing and intelligent enough to question pretty much everything these days. That does not give you the rather self-righteous seeming right to be that aggressive and call everyone who disagrees with you a 'Chinese bot' - that's ridiculous and apart from that sets you in a very menatally cheap light.

Otherwise it was you saying Korea would do comparably 'so much better' than other countries. I just said that isn't true.
I think why several people here reacted negatively to your posting is that it somehow sounds like the actor kind of 'deserved' the end he sadly met lately. I would strongly disagree with that kind of 'message vibe' too.

First of all, I'd ask uneducated people here who don't understand anything about their lives, probably bored Americans,…
although I see what you're aming at I strongly disagree with with what you say about Korean society being much more healthy than other countries concerning drug use. Having long lasting private contacts to Koreans myself I can tell you that Korea is in a downward spiral concerning ever more drug use and the government not willing and/or able to find any measures. There are also many official news articles meanwhile concerning this ever growing problem there.

I went against your and another person commenting that I should skip season 2. I should've listened, and I SO…
taha, told you so =D
Nah really, it was so so bad, I would never have imagined they could ruin it like that after season 1 being so good. Very unfortunate =/
Replying to LucyL Dec 2, 2023
Is Season 2 a standalone season? Can it be watched without having seen season 1? Or does it continue the story…
theoretically I'd say watch season 1 first (which I thougt was really good). Sadly, season 2 doesn't really continue the storyline. Lots of ever new charaters (none I really care for) , and just loosely they pick up the season 1 storyline to keep the main frame.
Otherwise, lots of non-connceted nightmare visions, lots of violence instead of storyline, loooots of never ending slow motions.
I found it comparably disappointing, as I liked season 1 a lot.
So, I'd dare say you can watch season 2 even without having seen season 1 - although I would suggest to watch season 1 instead as it was really good =D

yes, that goes for many cases in the show and of course I know shows don't have the time for detail in so many…
ok, let's agree on that =D

Yes, some stories went really quickly and it's easy to think that they all got better now but as the drama points…
yes, that goes for many cases in the show and of course I know shows don't have the time for detail in so many cases, that's why I said it was a very good try to approach the topic.
I still don't agree with the first case with the mother and daughter.
As someone else pointed out the mother bringing her daughter fruits again, including the hated grapes, the daughter, again trying to be nice and eating them? That was the wrongest possible signal for the patient. And no way would these two walk out the hospital like best mother/daughter friends soon after. Here it just showed that they couldn't bring themselves to show what would have been necessary in reality. It annoyed me greatly as many people suffer from narcissistic mother figures who are not openly evil and mean and are always excluded from any real consequences. They fed this idea here too. The message was, 'yeah, you sreamed a little, now eat the grapes anyway and be a good girl again and then we go home.'

Its not like squid game was the first one to come out with that type of genre, it was just more mainstream.
@ONLYHUMANx Read my review if you care, I dropped it for many reasons. I don't care if you like my comments or my reviews. If you are of another opinion then that's fine, just don't read my content and please leave it be now. If you go on harrasing me here I will send a message to the My Drama list-team, I'm tired of people not being able to let other opinions stand. Learn to accept that other people can see things VERY differently than you, that's life, swallow it and leave me in peace now, thanks!
