Title Reborn
What to expect:
- exceptionally good acting, especially by the supporting cast
- you will feel rage and frustration
- you will hate a lot of characters
- you will have imaginary arguments in your head with some characters
- you will most likely cry
- you will sometimes feel happy
- minimal romance
and lastly by the end you will feel bad about ever hating any of the characters (except the horrible aunt), because all are just people struggling through life, trying to do the best they can with the cards they were dealt.

This is an incredible well crafted work, showing the struggles of women, no matter if old or young, that are submitted to hurtful traditional customs and social norms just to preserve family honor or elder pride. It follows the journey of a teenager full of righteousness and need for justice, in discovering that the world is not always black and white.

This drama is inducing so much rage in me. Absolutely no one in that family did right by that sister. The amount of hypocrisy, misogyny, gaslighting, lack of accountability and victim blaming is insane. Worst thing is that it is all very realistic and represents the true reality of a lot of women, still in this day and age. The way pride and reputation of elders are valued higher than the wellbeing of a girl is so sad and disgusting.

I couldn’t stand the parents, one totally incapable of standing up for his kids and the other extremely controlling. Worst thing is I can still understand why they act like they did, and its pissind me off. They were also kind of victims to tradition and social pressure, a product of generational trauma. Sucks to have empathy sometimes when you just want to be mad at them.

In Chinese culture, respect and obedience toward one’s parents are deeply rooted values, based on the concept…
Yeah, I understand it is completely about a cultural difference. I just can’t relate at all. I am not saying it is less valid or that this philosophy is inherently wrong. Me personally just can’t connect with this kind of thinking, even less when the son has not received a good or even loving upbringing. His father is an alcoholic that abused him and didn’t care for him like a parent should. Why should he owe him anything? Why is the fathers ā€œhonor/ prideā€ more important and must be protected? What did he do to deserve filial piety from his son? That are just the thing that come to mind. I know, very western of me. I just have a strong need for fairness and feel bad for him. I can totally understand the need to pay ones parents back for loving/ raising you, but I don’t believe parents are owed obedience just for bringing us into this world.

What a mixed bag. Parts of this drama is top notch. The acting is fantastic, the relationship is realistic and…
I am on episode 7 and considering dropping just because of these reasons. I like the chemistry between the main couple but the plot and seems a mess. A lot of completely unimportant scenes where absolutely nothing happens. And the dialogue is so stunted and awkward, even between people that are supposedly friends/ family. The actual plot progresses at a snail pace and isn’t even logical half the time. It feel like its one of those dramas where there are stupid misunderstandings that would have been easily resolved if they just talked.
If this doesn’t improve, it just seems like a waste of time.

I am just at episode six, so I don’t know what is coming. This may be because of cultural differences, but something I don’t understand. This whole arranged marriage thing. why can’t he just say no? It’s not like he can be actually forced by his father. I’m just so confused because everyone seems to naturally accept his father basically selling him for a debt. Its portrayed as an inevitable and reasonable series of events. is this actually normal? His father borrowed the money, why is it his responsibility to fix the problem?

I need someone to clarify before i continue.

I am on ep 19 and really enjoying this. sadly i have seen some comments on social media that hint at big betrayals coming soon. I have a really hard time with betrayals between the main couples. Not a problem if its a side character but if it’s between the main couple, i loose interest. I can no longer take the supposed deep love seriously. I prefer the storylines where they are loyal to the end.
So, my question is: do they betray each other after declaring their love?
(ps, i don’t mean misunderstandings or conflicts that are part of the plot, i mean gut wrenching, ā€œyou are now my enemyā€ type of betrayal)

What don't you understand. If you ask someone on here can answer for you ^^
i was too lazy to write all of it out, but one of the comments pretty much explained all of the plot wholes I had concerns with. It is rather difficult to do time travel without messing up the story line though, so I understand. It didn’t mess with my enjoyment of the drama, so I didn’t mind too much.

Yes, the plot is Swiss cheese. If the ML was a demon all along because his daddy was a demon, or a part-demon because…
Exactly this! Thanks for reading my mind and writing it all out. I was too lazy to write all of that myself.

This is exactly what I meant, when I said it was full of plot holes and that the ending didn’t make a lot of sense.

It was entertaining though, so I still enjoyed it.

Though it has its flaws, I really enjoyed this. Mainly i enjoyed the main couple’s chemistry and character traits.
But that ending left me really confused? Can someone explain? I feel like the drama left a lot without explanation and there are several plot holes.
