Some people who’ve read the novel say they’ve already toned down Qimin quite a bit. What do you think? Maybe they won’t show him at his most extreme because they’re promoting the couple together.

It looks like Qimin hates Sui Yuanqing's ass and is just pretending in front of him. Do they both hate each other or is Sui Yuanqing actually fooled by Qimin’s words, which obviously sound fake and sarcastic? Sui Yuanqing seemed genuine to me with his brother

Lowkey I can’t fully hate Qimin. From his point of view, he’s a tragic character. Baoer was conceived when he was drugged by others. He grew up unwanted by everyone. The woman he’s obsessed with doesn’t want him. He’s also trying to survive, like always pretending in front of his brother and wanting power as the late emperor’s heir isn’t exactly wrong either.

But he’s just too evil to truly feel bad for. His methods are disturbing to watch. I always feel anxious during his scenes with his kid. Feeling very weird about this and them casting a good actor makes it even worse.

Among the few historical Cdramas I’ve watched, these two brothers are the creepiest and vilest characters I’ve seen. Maybe it’s because they’re both handsome, which somehow makes it feel even creepier idk lol. If it were some old man doing those things, I might’ve just skipped the scenes or maybe the writing and acting were simply that good, so nothing came across as comical.

Qimin seems like he might drop dead from coughing before anyone kills him. Do any novel readers know how he dies there?

Woah Idk if I want to ship Qian Qian and Qimin anymore. He seems totally cracked. I’m sure those damn editors on Insta will romanticize these scenes too😭But why did Qian Qian leave him in the first place? Will they reveal it later? Can any novel reader answer this?

So you want something deep, since you don’t like them going the classic route. Whether the ratings drop or not has nothing to do with me. If they add too much political conflict in the second half, maybe even I won’t rate it highly. But the first half deserves a 9.1. Why can’t the usual approach deserve a high rating too if it’s giving viewers the satisfaction you mentioned?

Wow I’m surprised this drama has the same screenwriter as Love Like the Galaxy. That was the slowest Cdrama I’ve watched, while this is the most engaging one so far

Does anyone know why this drama has so many directors? Or is that normal for most dramas?

I’ve started calling these jealous kissing scenes ZLH’s signature style kissing😭 But tbh Linghe can do better. I’ve watched SOKP, so I know he can. The director and camera work failed him in the kissing scene. Apart from all those zoom outs, the scene where she left was actually filmed nicely

I’ve seen childish female leads before but this one seems completely cracked in the head and the chemistry didn’t hit either. Idk how the male lead fall for her. Instant drop for me.

Maybe they could’ve shown them having a small wedding in the end, since they had already booked a hall? They ruined so much in the middle that even the good scenes ended up annoying me by the end
