the scene after the park where she runs after him and they back hug and he hugs her back crying, is that real? or did she imagine it?
if it was real, why did they flash back to her standing in the airport for the scene before? if it was fake, what was it? a send off for the AI, the request she made from them?
I also hope they stick to the original. The novel is really great and doesn't require any changes imo.
As for an obsessive third party...at one point in the story a woman joins the department where they both work. She is the ml's college junior and has her sights set on him. He shuts her down and doesn't give her the time of day in any way. But it's no secret that she's pursuing him and everyone in the department is sort of expecting they eventually she and the ml will get together. The author gives her quite a bit of writing time bc she's essential to the fl's growth. An overarching theme of the story is that the fl doesn't see herself as good enough. She's always doubting herself, in particular when she compares herself to this woman. But the ml does a great job of encouraging the FL and pampering her. Eventually the fl gets over it and realizes no one has ever been a threat to her in the ml's eyes or heart.
He was shy in his school days and she didn't give him a second glance. They were also quite young for dating and they went to different high schools. His goal was to make it big in the US then return to a job that would earn him millions. If he'd acheived that, he'd have kept his mother in wealth for the reaminder of her life. Unfortunately, she became sick so he had to return ahead of schedule. The job he got in banking in China, first as a govt rep, later as a bank manager, also earned him a lot of money but it took him a bit longer to reach the status and compensation he'd have gotten had he completed his US employment plan. The FL felt extremely sorry for him and his mom. It touched her heart. She literally had a brain freeze in the hospital when she said yes. Afterwards, she'd already agreed and couldn't back out. Ob refelection, she realized that her parents were happy, his mom was happy, and he wanted to move forward , and he'd committed to her that he'd be a good husband to her. So all in all she decided to push ahead and go with it.
Although, since it's a tv show, they might change that. I just finished As Beautiful As You, which is based on a novel. While the core of the novel's story was kept for the show, they did make some changes, some of them fundemental, in order to appeal to a tv audience, incorporate some common tropes, and play to a younger audience--the novel was quite mature. This novel, by comparison, is quite youthful all on its own. Still, they might decide to enact some changes for comercial reasons.
Hi, no they didn't. No rules, no contract, no expiration date. My man is hella smart and he finally got his girl...he wasn't gonna do anything to get in his own way LOL
you're welcome!! i hope so too. the novel is terrific. i truly hope they do it justice and transfer the story in its full original form to the tv screen. happy reading and watching<3
you can read the novel on foxaholic if you'd like, it's really good.
if you want a spoiler filled synapsis of the plot.....read on.
ml and fl went to the same middle school. she came from a loving middle class household, was cute and friendly, not dumb academically but not really above average. he was raised by his mother alone, can't recall if his dad died or left but it happened when he was young so his mom worked and raised him. his mom loved him but he felt a pressure to take care of her and earn money so he pushed himself at school on top of being born very smart. he was the god of the school, brilliant, top of the class, cold and reserved. everyone admired him but the fl did not bc she viewed him as miles above her. they were grade mates but in different classes and didn't interact as kids.
as adults they meet again. he's a big shot who returend from a prestigious job in wall street usa to work at a local bank in china. she's been working at that bank for three years as a temp employee, waiting to be officially hired and promoted to full time employee.
they meet bc he takes a job doing govt bank inspections. she doesn't realize he remembers her from school.
a bit later his aunt who knows fl's mom sets them up on a blind date. she goes on sufference to please her mom, not realizing whom she's meeting. when she realizes it's him she stays for dinner but basically tells him it's impossible between them, bc in her head she still sees him as out of her league.
eventually they meet again while she's visiting a hospital whose banking she takes cares of and she realized that he's there bc his mom is terminally ill. it comes out that he returned from a wellpaying job in the usa due to his mom. mom overhears fl and son talking and assumes fl is her son's gf. she thinks the blind date the aunt, her sister, set up for son worked out. the fl feels bad for her and says, yes, i'm his gf. mom pushes them to get married. fl has a brain freeze and agrees. ml jumps on the bandwagon and they talk about it, decide to get married bc both of their parents want it.
he switches jobs from the govt oversight to the manager of a deparment in teh bank where the fl works. due to this their relationship must be kept secret bc it's forbidden for colleagues to have a personal relationship.
at work no one know they are married. in private, they slowly grow closer. the ml is very attentive and nice to the fl and eventually their relationship turns physical and she realizes she is in love with him. at first she struggles to hide it bc she still fears that he is too good for her and that they are only in a marriage of convenience. but after a time she blurts out her feelings when she is drunk and he tells her that he loves her too...actually he fell for her back in their middle school days.
...and they live happily ever after.
their secret relationship gets exposed by a vengeful fired employee but the ml resigns, and takes over a big job at a different bank.
there is no love triangle. some characters try to make moves on each of them the ml and fl due to not realizing that both are married, but neither the fl or ml take it seriously and both are devoted to each other. no cheating or ambiguity or anything like that.
the novel is very very sweet, very romantic, strong ml and fl, very loving couple and parents, and has some great comedic moments too.
suitable makes it seem like he doesn't like her for herself, but only likes her for checking his requirements.…
yes, he didn't use the words she wanted. its funny bc to me he's in denial about how deep his feelings go and how far he'd go for her sake. basically he has zero limits when it comes to her. the novel realy shows it well. he truly does love her.
the preview of the next ep gave me a bad feeling. the bday with the cat? ugh. in a vacume i'd say its sweet but…
it was cute but it doesn't accurately represent the novel ht. sigh. it's okay, i'll muddle through it. hopefully when they do get back together the show will revert back to novel form.
Alright, the drama is in a make-it-or-break-it phase now. How people perceive this drama as a whole will depend…
the preview of the next ep gave me a bad feeling. the bday with the cat? ugh. in a vacume i'd say its sweet but i'm looking for the novel on screen, not their own new twists. dang it all!! we were so freaking close!!!!!!!
And kinda changed the way they talk about reconciliation too
probably. dumb of them. this isn't some first youth romance, no matter how much they want it to be. for goodness sake, you have the ons and the couple cohabiting before marriage. this is a mature romance. i get they want to lighten it up a bit to draw in a wider audience but let's be real. this is no hs or college romance and they're ruining it by trying so hard to make it one more than halfway through the story.
Spoiler.....

i don't understand this...
