Eventually the novel will be released in full for free.
I beleive the release schedule for the free chapters is two chapters per week, or two per month.
I paid because I finished reading this ages ago. I believe it was almost six months ago when I first began chapter one. Even with paying for the later chapters, they were still being translated, so I had to wait for them to uploaded for purchase. The translation just finished a few weeks ago.
Anyway, if you wait it out, you'll eventully be able to read it all for free. If you have any questions and are interested in spoilers you can ask me and I'll do my best to answer <3

The parents are terrific in the novel as well; very supportive.

Mile's character in the novel is not a bad communicator; he's a very firm boss but he eventually earns the respect of his team. This is something the show screws up too. In the novel he was placed into the managerial role and was much younger than the other team members. They tried to to test him, but in ways that challenged *his* personal authority--not the bank regulations themselves. So he couldn't really "punish" them because techinically they were not breaking any rules--it was only a battle of wills. In the end, his will proved stronger and he won the respect of his older underlings by being great at his job.

same. massive let down, since i liked her in the novel.

The character I have issues with.
IDK, I'm expecting too much of her maybe. I'm looking at her behavior like childish tempter tantrums. Even is she tells him calmly, "based on your actions I don't believe we're suited, let's break up", I still wouldn't like it but at least she'd come off as somewhat understandable. But all I can see is she doesn't like what he's doing so she blows up at him then runs away....childish in the extreme. Not someone serious at all, let alone serious about marriage.

I think her ex bf might make himself a nuisance.
Also, in the novel, the department gets a female employee who is determined to go after the ML.
However, in the novel, neither the ML nor FL give those others the time of day.
Not sure how the show will handle it, though.

What on earth are they doing with the FL?
She is completely changed from the novel!
In the novel, her biggest issue was a lack of self-confidence, which leads her to doubt that the ML truly likes her. But the only consequence of this, beyond her own inner monologue, is that she sometimes snapped at him or spoke harshly to him. However, their relationship as a whole was never in doubt, no one ever threatened to leave! They were married. Period.

The show FL is ridiculous. Wishy-washy in the extreme, doesn't communicate well, doesn't even try to understand the ML and the reasons behind his actions, won't talk things through, just basically stomps her feet and flounces off whenever she's unhappy. What on earth are they doing????
They took a sensible female character, made her ridiculous and made her behave like a child to boot! What kind of 27-yo acts this way????

I can only speculate, since the hold-up is new to the show and as per the original novel they get married immediately. But I believe they'll move their intended timeline of a year forward for the sake of the ML's mother. In the novel she was a major deciding factor on the issue. So I can see in the show that might insist on seeing the certificate, photos, etc.
While I can see them holding off on a ceremony, I do believe they'll obtain a license to be officially married sooner rather than later in order to please his mom.

I will say the one that the one thing I don't like from this adaptation is that the main couple holding off on getting married. In the novel they get married immediately, which opens the door for a lot of plot lines (major ones) which I really enjoyed. It also forced the leads to think of each other and interacct with each other in certain ways since they were a married couple. I'm disappointed that the tv show is holding off on that for now, and that they're shifting the focus to a work competition--something that does not exist in the novel. However, I am curious to see how they'll build from that and how/if they'll incorporate different aspects from the novel into this altered setting.

So far I'm not getting the vibe from the novel at all.
Make no mistake, I'm not complaining. So far, the first four episodes are good; I'm happy with the pace, and, as a stand-alone, I like the story development. I find the story to be engaging and the couple is adorable. But the show is definitely not matching the mood of the setting or the personalities of the characters as I understood them and imagined them from the novel. The storyline of the show itself also has some major changes from the novel. It'll be very interesting to see how everything develops. Looking forward to episode five!

the scene after the park where she runs after him and they back hug and he hugs her back crying, is that real? or did she imagine it?

if it was real, why did they flash back to her standing in the airport for the scene before?
if it was fake, what was it? a send off for the AI, the request she made from them?

No worries. The ml is a solid rock and no one's fool. He knows exactly whom he loves, and sees right through that other woman. No shenanigans at all.

I also hope they stick to the original. The novel is really great and doesn't require any changes imo.

As for an obsessive third party...at one point in the story a woman joins the department where they both work. She is the ml's college junior and has her sights set on him. He shuts her down and doesn't give her the time of day in any way. But it's no secret that she's pursuing him and everyone in the department is sort of expecting they eventually she and the ml will get together. The author gives her quite a bit of writing time bc she's essential to the fl's growth. An overarching theme of the story is that the fl doesn't see herself as good enough. She's always doubting herself, in particular when she compares herself to this woman. But the ml does a great job of encouraging the FL and pampering her. Eventually the fl gets over it and realizes no one has ever been a threat to her in the ml's eyes or heart.

He was shy in his school days and she didn't give him a second glance. They were also quite young for dating and they went to different high schools.
His goal was to make it big in the US then return to a job that would earn him millions. If he'd acheived that, he'd have kept his mother in wealth for the reaminder of her life. Unfortunately, she became sick so he had to return ahead of schedule. The job he got in banking in China, first as a govt rep, later as a bank manager, also earned him a lot of money but it took him a bit longer to reach the status and compensation he'd have gotten had he completed his US employment plan.
The FL felt extremely sorry for him and his mom. It touched her heart. She literally had a brain freeze in the hospital when she said yes. Afterwards, she'd already agreed and couldn't back out. Ob refelection, she realized that her parents were happy, his mom was happy, and he wanted to move forward , and he'd committed to her that he'd be a good husband to her. So all in all she decided to push ahead and go with it.

Although, since it's a tv show, they might change that.
I just finished As Beautiful As You, which is based on a novel.
While the core of the novel's story was kept for the show, they did make some changes, some of them fundemental, in order to appeal to a tv audience, incorporate some common tropes, and play to a younger audience--the novel was quite mature.
This novel, by comparison, is quite youthful all on its own.
Still, they might decide to enact some changes for comercial reasons.
