It was cute. I liked it. Unexepted, as you said, since it's not in the novel.
Overall, HT in the show is lot warmer and demonstrative than HT in the novel. During stargazing, he responded "me too" when she said "I love you". In the novel they break up bc JX is unsure if HT truly loves her- a doubt which is reinforced by the business machinations. The show can incorporate the business bit, but I'm not sure how they would incorporate her doubts that he loves her. It doesn't seem to fit with their currect direction. Maybe they'll switch it to family pressure, Grandpa interfering somehow?

I don't want to jump the gun before it's released but....I'm kind of upset they cast other actors for the older HT and JX. You can do so much with makeup and special effects, is it really neccessary?
A movie like "back to the future" did older and younger versions beautifully and that was like over 20 years ago!
