Actually, she stopped avoiding him only after the curse set in. That's when she started pestering him to go drink with her bc she needs him to kiss her as a dog. The forced proximity gave her the chance to realize that he doesn't actually dislike her, which made her more receptive to him overall.
Also, she's helped him in two contexts. The first is dog-related, bc she needs him to get over his fear of dogs otherwise she's screwed. The second is bc 1-she needs to get on his good side , and, 2-he found her at his home in the morning and therefore has potentially embarrassing (damaging) info on her. So in that sense they both agreed to keep each other's secrets.
