Wow Ana amazing review!! At first I was overwhelmed by its length but once I started it wasn't long at all! How can you make such a review where you can make me know how it feels to watch it without telling me anything about the story? That's why I say amazing!! ;)
At first I wanted to watch for the cast (especially Odagiri ♥), then I wanted to watch it for the dialogs because of the quotes you kept posting, now I HAVE to watch it for what it is itself!

Another review of yours I fully enjoyed and made me wan to watch this movie more ;)
"Five years has passed since the Shibuya riots..." is there a prequel to this??
There is a 1 volume manga called Tokyo Tribe. Then they made a manga series as a sequel, called Tokyo Tribe 2. This movie is based on Tokyo Tribe 2, which takes place after the events of that first volume.
i saw this movie MANY years ago, but i watched it in chinese without any subtitles xD so i didnt understand anything,…
It's worth the rewatch for sure! Although you can get the feeling of the characters without the subtitles, understanding what they're actually saying adds more to the details ;)
The thing that pisses me off everytime: people who claim they don't like a certain genre or type of show but they…
Yup the Schtroumpf grognon in me gets annoyed easily :P
As for those 2 dramas, I guess since both involve hotels its easy to mix them up XP although all I know about Hotel King was that Lee Dong Wook was looking great in there so I watched a few scenes there but I knew its not my type of drama.
As for wisdom, Grand Schtroumpf taught me well :P
Great article! I'd also like to add 'Korean actors are better than Japanese/Chinese/Thai/etc actors' - kind of…
What people don't realize, there are some cultural differences that make actors carry their roles differently because that is how people of said country react compared to the other. That is why it was hard for me to distinguish good actors from bad actors until I watch enough from each country to make the distinction.

I'm the same. My first year of watching dramas, I was watching everything, until I realized the type I liked over those I don't. I stopped attempting family melos and I don't watch romance melos (or any type of melos :P) and I never comment on those dramas because I know they have their audience. It does happen though that once in a while I start watching something and turns out to be like nothing I had imagine so I do bitch about it a bit (I'm talking about you Secret Hotel you brought the worst out of me!!! XP) but I usually just drop or put on hold until I summon the patience. I don't mind if people complain about dramas I like if they're being constructive, but sometimes I'm like "dude this just isn't for you!"
That is to say we all have our different taste, people shouldn't hold it against us.
I can sympathize with the writer's exasperation. To be fair, I've seen non-Korean drama fans bashing this or that…
As a mostly non-korean asian drama fan, I totally agree the bashing comes from both sides and both annoy me! I do think the internet has been a free reign for those people with no filter who like to be all nasty using anonymity while decent people don't waste their time on such things.
Thankfully on mdl it happens rarely. From what I've seen up to now on mdl it's only those people who want to enjoy their dramas and share the love (not the hate).
Attractiveness is very subjective so it's like people are insulting your taste.
As for the comparison, I think it's unavoidable to compare, but do it in a respectful, constructive way, or just don't watch the other version if you can't tolerate. I compare it to when people argue Sub vs Dub anime! It gets on my nerves.
And yes each country has it's stand out dramas, its generic dramas, and its boring ones and we sometimes can tolerate one country's generic over another. For example, I don't mind watching any japanese detective dramas while korean romcom has to have some kind of twist to it so I can watch, but for some, they can't stand those japanese doramas and I can see why but I enjoy them like they enjoy their korean melodramas and romcoms.
I've been waiting for this! Thanks for the review ;) I'm seen most OCN dramas so I wanted to watch this one but read somewhere that it isn't as good. So what do you think compared to its predecessors? I like mystery dramas, and I like to be surprised. I don't mind episodic ones, I actually like them more as long as we have character development and chemistry. Is that drama for me?
