What a great Stalker's Guide. I'm sure many people who didn't know him before will be interested in checking him…
It's a reminder for me too. I will get down to it after the first week of June. That and Empire of gold :P
Oh just HAVE to watch his movies. you'll see so much more of what he has to offer, so much variety. They may be a bit more intense though, but memorable.
Wow nice article! He's my newest favorite J-actor. I totally admire his effortless acting in Josee... then I saw…
True he just feels so real in every role I've seen him in! I also want to watch more of his movies, I've still got a number to go, and there are many new ones I can't wait for to be subbed ;)
"might have misunderstood him as overacting." Whoever misunderstood him as overacting in Waka probably…
I know I miss them too!! I just read in many blogs where bloggers kept saying they were disappointed by his performance and how he was overacting. I seriously couldn't get it I loved his performance there. I mean his personality was that of a loud intrusive, uneducated older brother and he was perfect there! I totally agree with you that they probably misunderstood the whole drama. Some of them did drop it. It's all a matter of taste so that didn't bother me but it did bother me when they said he was overacting!
I really like his acting but I often get distracted because he looks like my cousin from certain angles. The first…
Happened to me so many times!! now when I see something on youtube I don't take for granted and watch right away!!
& Lol must be weird that you find he looks like your cousin :P
I was looking forward to the publishing of this article ever since I saw it in the editorial section. Great job…
Thx Cheer really, really glad you liked it :D I remember we talked about how he's one of very, very few men that we can accept him when he cries. He's actually one of two actors I can accept when they cry, and the other actor is Syrian.
I do really need to watch Pandemic and a couple of his early roles like Sayonara, Kuro and Dragonhead if I get to find them subbed. I seriously can't wait for Our Family to be subbed, where I can see him with Ikematsu Sosuke. I also can't wait for Vancouver Asahi as well.
He has roles where he wasted his talent for sure, but no matter what the role is, he still gives it what he has and does a good performance. Ai to Makoto is definitely one of them :P
It was very hard for me to not go past the limit of recommendations with him since a great actor is one that makes us see past our taste and enjoy him in whatever role he's in. Like you, I don't necessarily like all his movies, or all the type of movies he does, but seeing his performance onscreen is always a joy. He's definitely not underrated and well recognized in Japan. I think that is thanks to his focus on movies. Maybe internationally he is underrated, but I hope that changes soon ;)
I have to agree its an effective title, very memorable too. I just need to get in the right mood. Anything for Yamada Takayuki though. Oh and Ayase Haruka too ;)
Great review! I agree with you about the female characters of this drama, refreshing. I also fell for Jung Ryeo Won here, as well as Lee Bum Soo. I should watch Giant too!! And so true about Jung Ryeo Won. I think I loved him more than hated him, but he still was hateful at times :P
As always enjoy your review. It made me think, some movies, and dramas also, are all about the story, the characters, and the progression. On the other hand, movies can also depict a very simple story, but with witty direction and symbolism can make a movie very deep reflective, and most memorable. I think for dramas we would still need a story to keep it us hooked and keep things interesting, but in movies with such time limit, can find many ways of depicting an idea.
