Excellent article Ana!! Except for 2 of the dramas all the titles you've mentioned have already gone to my ptw and then to my Completed list, and all thanks to your recommendations. I have to agree that no matter the type of movie and if it turned out to be good or not, Takeshi always impresses and makes the roles memorable.
In The Warlords, he didn't shine as much as the rest of the cast cuz his character was too simple compared to the complicated characters portrayed by his costars.
In fallen angels he was the best thing about the movie and was the sole reason i enjoyed it.
The way he's described by people who know him and what you quoted him makes him very intriguing as a person for me as well.

Thx for this article!! You gave the right reasons as to why everyone should watch it!! Let me just add that all the characters are flawed, but very much down to earth and realistic in their interaction. The chemistry between the leads is awesome!!

Abandonment is when the parents are unworthy and they abandon of their own free will. I just don't get when the government deprives them of their parenthood. I will never understand Japanese family law. It's like when a divorce happens, the parent is divorced from the whole family. I don't think it's healthy for the child. Villain isn't an easy watch and isn't there to make a hero out of anyone. It isn't my favourite of his work but it was a turning point of his career and is definitely worth checking out. You would need the right mood for it though ;) I really liked slow dance, all about dreams and reality when school is done, and the cast did a great job.

I agree his movies offer a wider variety where we can truly appreciate his talent. It can get pretty intense though. I find the dramas are I good introduction, specially for young viewers. Akunin was a turning point of his career, and made him one of the most desirable actors his generation. The only scene I watched of Fast and Furious was his scene :P He looked great!! XD
