In my opinion the reason the drama is 'Perfect Match' is because in order to be a perfect match, two people should be able to understand and accept eachother wholeheartedly with their flaws and together the couple should help eachother become better people.
The 5 girls are virtuous, talented and beautiful but their matches are not yet perfect....if they were already perfect why would we need 36 episodes? We would finish the series in 1 episode itself...
Each character would have to go through a development and become a better version of themselves to be perfect.
There are lots of unlikeable character traits in the three MLs we were introduced in first 4 episodes, they are: arrogant, snobbish, pompous, hedonist etc. they would have to go through some transformation and change for better.
You can look on the translated relationship chart by Soonsetra :https://pbs.twimg.com/media/GiIrRsLagAA21RK?format=jpg&name=largeand…
I have been following your notes on this page, love reading them everytime you write such detailed notes and provide attractive gifs...🤗🥰 It's a pity that this time the discussion section is hidden. I will leave a comment there once the drama concludes.
The second daughter FuHui is married in the wealthy Fan family of Bianjing ...The widowed mother who hopes to…
Opps I realised I have made many typos and mistakes in the post.
But I meant people joked that "even the thieves wouldn't visit the house that had so many daughters as they would be extremely poor" (after having paid dowry for so many girls)
That's such a good translation of the relationship chart...thanks for drawing my attention to it...many things become clear with this chart...I will download it for future reference.
Thanks for the translation...Now that I have started watching the series 'Perfect Match', the OST has become more relatable...I hope you will share this on the page of the drama or better yet make a discussion thread there so that more people can come across this melodious song translated by you.
Oh, I finished 1st episode...Qiong Nu calls Madam Li as her mother but Madam Li doesn't count her in her daughters' list... Is it explicitly mentioned that she was adopted in later episodes? After first episode I thought she might be Madam Li's stepdaughter.
Ep 1 just finished watching ep 1... As it was an introduction episode where the background of the story was explained…
The second daughter FuHui is married in the wealthy Fan family of Bianjing ...The widowed mother who hopes to find a match for the remaining four daughters comes to Bianjing because in Luoyang in spite of her daughters' beauty due to their confrontational, fierce nature it was difficult to find a good match.
*However the second daughter is not happy in her marriage, her husband is a hedonist and soft person...when she tries to get him to walk in the straight path and leave his libertine ways, she is criticized and considered to be an inappropriate wife. Also threatened with a divorce which would reflect negatively on her other sisters' prospect of finding a good match.
*It was also discussed that Li family were wealthy and reputed but after the premature death of Madam Li's husband and her son, the ladies had to become fierce and independent to survive in the world which was male dominant.
* There has also been reference of the dowry culture and because Madam Li has a total of five daughters, someone jokingly says even the thieves wouldn't come to that house because it would be poor after paying so much dowry.
All these three things 1.having a wastrel weak husband, 2.women who fight for their rights were considered to be shrews and frowned upon, 3.The dowry system,
reflect the reality of women in that era...the story is about how these women fight to make a place for themselves while finding love and happiness. Because being capable, independent women doesn't mean they have to live a loveless life.
As it was an introduction episode where the background of the story was explained and some of the characters were introduced, it was quite slow.
However one should remember that this is a period family drama, hence there would be quite a lot of focus on the era, position of ladies(especially those who did not have a strong support of any male family members), traditions and customs etc.
Even when the pace picks up and romance of all five sisters would be the prominent storyline, the sub-plot would continue to focus on what was considered to be the norm and how these sisters were the deviants who were defying the society rules, to make a place for themselves, demanding equal rights and a chance to have their own identity and independence.
The costumes, makeup, sets and props bring more authentic feel of the period of Song dynasty that the story is set in.
The story would be more similar to "Pride and Prejudice" and "The Taming of the Shrew" if we are looking for a comparison with the western counterpart.
Sameee I was shocked to see Netflix having the same schedule as vip!!!
Hey there, I think it's good for us...Is the opening title song sung by Wu Xuanyi? What are your thoughts on this drama so far? I have watched ep 1 so far, I have written a detailed account of my opinion of Ep 1 in another post... because it's a period family romance the story is a bit slow...there would be more romance and story would pick up after a few episodes.
not in list above ? when would that be and where to watch?
Even I have read rumours about the drama 'Macau Youth' already been filmed but there has been no other news or articles, so that is very strange. There are so many questions as to when it had been filmed because the actors' schedule didn't reflect anything about filming that drama.
It's a mystery, if you get any answers, I would love to know more about it.

I am happy Netflix is keeping the schedule of the mgtv vips.
So for 2025 year, this is the first drama going on my watchlist.
Will come back to read comments after watching the episodes.
Fingers 🤞 they would be as good as my expectations.

I think the fox spirit one may be released in Q3 or Q4...it doesn't look like Iqiyi is in a hurry for its release.
Well the best way to remember Birthdays is set a reminder in the calendar.... but you gotta remember to do that😉
For now let's see 'Perfect Match'.
