Accidentally saw this drama on Youtube and gave it a try because of Ji Chang Wook. It’s interesting to watch a C-drama having a great actor like Ji Jang Wook. I really enjoy watching him and his acting but the drama is pretty dragging, I fast forward most scenes without Ji Chang Wook.
This is probably one of the last truly authentic wuxia series that still captures the spirit of 1990s Hong Kong…
The most recent Wuxia drama that also reminds me of the spirit of 1990s Hong Kong wuxia drama is Blood River. I like both this drama and Blood River since they are all well produced with great cast and acting. Blood River has plus points for CGI, special effects, martial arts, and a story that makes more sense to me.
It took me forever to finish Ep 1 last year so I don’t know if I should continue this (esp since I found out…
This drama is among my favorite but I don’t like the relationship of main leads because it seems unrealistic and unusual to me. If you like Wuxia dramas I suggest the series including 3 dramas: The Blood of Youth, Blood River and Dashing Youth. These three dramas have characters relating to each other so if you plan to watch all three, the timeline is Dashing Youth->Blood River-> The Blood of Youth. The most successful are The Blood of Youth and Blood River, both of them will have season 2.
Dashing your is the right name for this show ahahaha there is so many eye candy in this show it’s crazy !!!…
If you like this, you should watch the other two in the same universe. Regarding timeline, next is Blood River, then The Blood of Youth. There’re discrepancies in Blood River because the story is mainly about the side characters in Dashing Youth. Both Blood River and The Blood of Youth were very well produced and successful that the novel writer is planning for season 2 for both. The CGI and martial art in Blood River is the best!!! I highly recommend you watch both.
After watching Dashing Yourh, I HAD to watch this next. I know Blood River is between them on the timeline, but…
The timeline of Blood River is before TBOY for approximately 8 years but the novel writer wrote Blood River after TBOY. Therefore, the relationship between Su Mu Yu and Su Chang He were built better in Blood River and their ending is totally different from TBOY. Blood River is a side story that does not relate much to TBOY and DY so Blood River can be watched as a stand-alone drama, which has been successful and loved that there will be season 2 as well 🙂 Among 3 dramas, TBOY and Blood River are my most favorite so I highly recommend Blood River.
