BL fans are quick to apologize for liking BL←THIS THIS FUCKING STATEMENT. I'm sorry, couldn't help shouting a bit. I just can't with fans saying "bl is their guilty pleasure", or treating bl as some lower genre. And as opposed to what? It's okay for people to only watch het, but it's not okay for women to watch bl because it's apparently a "fetish" (something i saw people accuse "fujoshi viewers" for a lot before). I've seen debates on here that bl isn't lgbt because it doesn't represent the "true picture of lgbt", because yes, het kdrama romcoms are so huge on portraying the true picture of the economy or smth 🤷🏽‍♀️

And the het pairing in Not Me was so trash. I still can't believe they did Black like that. I didn't know it was supposed to be a m/m pairing, can you enlighten me a bit on this please? Despite not knowing, the het storyline seemed so forced and out of place that i should have known i was missing something here...

It's terrible that bl is sold to us for the sake of being bl. The general attitude of showmakers being, "we gave you a bl, don't you see how hard it is for us. now don't go asking for a proper thriller plot."

And some viewers act as if it's a crime almost to wish for these shows to be bls or gls. Shows like Not Me are just a once in a bluemoon thing. Truly, they can't even make these shows for general viewers. It. Has. To. Be. Heterosexual.

I dislike that trope too + i know that gmmtv is almost incapable of making shows without romance. The gifted was good, Punn and Claire were there yes, but it was part of the story. That was the only good drama by gmmtv in this kind of genre without a romance focus.

The trailer gave me the vibe that it would be less focussed on romance. Moreover most shows change the pilot a lot, that's why it's just a pilot.

I don't like Love triangles and particularly not two guys fighting over a girl like she's a doll without a choice of her own—esp. not brothers. But i felt that it's more about Pawin feeling isolated by his brother and a close friend and hence lashing out than the romance in itself. Let's see how it goes...

And there is a point, some people like to see how their ratings have progressed (episode ratings would serve better for that but leave them be!), moreover it often helps people who are on fence as to watch a currently airing show

I read one user calling this "brothers fighting over a girl" but it doesn't look that way to me. It looks like two brothers fighting and a bigger story than just a romance (which has thankfully not been added in the genres as of yet). Rung doesn't seem to be the cause of their feud judging by want i saw in the trailer. the endgame is predictable but i see that they haven't set up a pairing for Pawin

See if you take Rosa Parks, and make a movie on her except you cast a white actress, it means you are diminishing her identity as a black woman. Now yes, this is a bl, not "high stuff" so to speak, like the story of the civil rights movement. but a gay identity is being reduced to somebody who is not gay simply because the showmakers "thought" that it would fetch more money for them.

Moreover there is a difference in changing, say, a man who is canon straight into canon gay than a canonically gay character (with a history of being bullied for being gay) into a straight man, because that's how it is. There is undeniably a shun against mainstream lgbt productions and anybody can deny it but it's there. You know what we call the chinese censorship for not allowing canon gay characters based off gay romances? homophobic

Of course the company has the creative freedom to do whatever they want with an adaptation they have bought.
