I don’t he guilt tripped her, because from what I’ve seen he’s very much of his capabilities and is not even using them to manipulate her. There’s a lady who asked him to hug her so that ml would get jealous and realise her feeling for him, and he refused and even stated that he didn’t want her to feel that way.
He’d loved her since he was a kid, and wants to protect her. His awkward personality, lack of experience in dating and psychological trauma makes it difficult for people who look at others at face value to accept him.

I had the same feeling at first if you read past comments you’ll see. But I was curious because there was no way a protagonist could be a creepy psycho (which is the feeling I got).
