So, you must decide if it’s purely entertainment you are watching for and other things too.
But you get much from the fantasy the ones.

It definitely is, the dramas for realistic thinkers don’t get much viewership and ratings, writers these days have to force happy ending because commercial reasons and popularity.
You must watch The Rise of the Phoenixes, it has a realistic ending but viewers weren’t happy.
Ming Dynasty, also had realistic ending, made a lot of romance lovers drop it.
So, if you like the realistic ones, prepare for angst and good story writing,
The Rebel Princess has a good ending, but it has such quality writing and refreshing approach. I think you will love it.

For me as well, I have dropped other gender reversal dramas, particularly those that reduce men to mere simps.
The distinction here lies in the fact that the male lead remains manly. He devotes himself to the woman he loves, yet he is also assertive. The female lead is not entirely in control, for he is skilful in his patience while awaiting her affection, and at the same time he leaves her little choice but to love him.
He is ruthless towards his enemies and utterly dependable.
I believe Princess Royal attempted something similar, but the result was a dismal failure.

I thought the same at first, until I examined the production company’s other work, which did little to convince me. After watching the leads speak about how they prepared one another for the reversal of roles, it became clear that this was their craft, and for that reason I am crediting the actor.
Have you ever encountered such a character before? Surely there must be echoes in history of a similar style of writing. Credit should be given where it is deserved.
And of course, it is the collective effort of the entire production team that enabled them to execute and enrich their roles.
