An amazing film. Was able to watch over this weekend with my sister who is not into Chinese dramas or movies more or less even Asian dramas, and she was absolutely in love with this movie by the time it ended. It was such a beautiful and poetic movie from beginning to end on love and persistence.
Never seen this girl before but i want to see more of her. after moon lovers i was like this girl needs to be in more shows and hopefully and eventually as a lead. wish there was more of her on moon lovers as she was really a lovable character
Her acting on moon lovers brought me to tears....my God, now remember her face from come Jang Bo Ri and it is such a huge transition but such flawless and spotless acting.
I have to say despite some of the flaws and some parts where it dragged, this was probably one of my favorite…
Thank you!!! Hehe.....as i said before i just didn't know why people kept talking bout this drama kept popping up on viki when i search for dramas but i took the plunge as the hair was what was really holding me back (new to Chinese dramas and more so historical dramas around the Qing Dynasty so the hair thing threw me back a bit) but my God, the drama is so goooooooodddddd!!! I feel like a broken record by now...lol. The Korean version needed a longer version cause their sudden introuction of Luwu/Woo Hee and Hae Soo being friends felt like i missed something on screen when i have been watching the drama since episode 1 (but then again there is three versions soooo......)
I have to say I am currently watching the Korean version and I love it but I never understood as to why this,…
Thank you...hehe....but for one I would say not to compare a book to a drama for the sole reason that i know it will fall or fail to meet expectations. the language or country that recreates it isn't a excuse for a crappy or less recreation of a drama, its the producers, the director, writers, actors, and etc...behind it that makes it fail.
As i mentioned before, i love the Korean version but after watching the Chinese version in succession and finishing it in almost three days, i see so much as to why it hurts (literally it does) to watch a recreation of it and it doesn't meet the expectations. I love romance, God knows i do, but Scarlet Heart had me fall so much in love with the stories that the main had with ALL the princes, but watch her growth, her knowledge of her own history and be able to deduce what happens and actually not interfere with it (except for that warning to the 8th prince and her blaming herself for the cause of all the madness later on...) but able to get herself out of situations and own up to it when she plainly screw up.
The problem the Korean version has was not enough episodes, compressing a 35 episode drama into 20 episodes is not feasible hence why in the last coming weeks we are finally getting to the point where they are rushing the 4th prince claim to the throne in the last four episodes.
Another problem, having idol actors in the drama. Now i don't care whether someone is a singer or not but if you are going to have a drama with idol actors don't make it 95% of the cast in the drama. I feel that IU has improved her acting from previous train wrecks of dramas i have seen her in, but plainly Lee Jun Ki and Kang Ha Neul and the older actors are the main one's carrying this drama. If this drama is to boost Lee Jun Ki's profile and career, then it's working out of South Korea as it's not winning him any favors in his own country where ratings are pretty low, but I love him. I am still watching this drama for him as his acting is just powerful stuff.....really really good and feel like this drama could have been better if they cast him with other actors and actresses that could have rose to his level of expertise.
Also concerning the ending, except for the lack of connection with the princes, the lack of showing that the other princes had wives and concubines, and her bond with the emperor, the korean version has been true to the chinese version so i am willing to bet it will end the same. people are hoping it won't but i see where she is already becoming disgusted, conflicted, and afraid of the fourth prince and they suddenly threw in our face in episode 16 that the 14th prince is in love with Hae Soo despite ignoring it for a good chunk of the drama. plus at this point i just see her death as necessary just to end everything.
P.S. sorry for the long ole' comment....I just haven't found someone who experienced how i feel bout the drama and one honest comment is seen as being a hater or antifan or blah blah blah....
After watching Season 1 i was not expecting much from season 2, especially since so many people have forewarned about how the second season failed to deliver. However, I read the reasoning behind the lack of reference towards Season 1 and understand to put it lightly, but I wished that we just ended it with Season 1 to begin with. i was satisfied with the ending in season 1, it was opened, but it gave the promise that they could still meet in the end. But with the second season and with the problems that came up, it just made it such a huge, huge, huge disappointment. I was already disappointed that majority of the cast from season 1 wasn't in this one, moved on from that, but was disappointed with how long and how tortuous they kept our leads from one another and how "jerky" they made the main lead.
All in all, they took the flame out of Roxy....who was in season 1 could be described as intelligent, assertive, spunky, and was just all in all an amazing character (that at times was wishy washy) but was still really good. However, we had an amnesiac Roxy who cried 95 percent of the drama and being over run by other people.
What is keeping me in continuing to watch this drama is the fourth prince and Roxy, despite how much flaws is in the drama, there is a reason the leads got married, they have so much freaking chemistry that its just amazing.
I really love this series and even the ending. Yes everything was tied into a neat little bow, making sure we checked all our bases and that all the characters were given some light into being referenced along the way....and poor Yoon Seung died....but I could accept his death being for the sole purpose of the remnants his clan desperately using him as a link to easily overthrow the Crown Prince down the line. That's how i reasoned for it and it was kind of obvious since the beginning that he was going to die either sacrificing himself for Ra On or at least for the Crown Prince and for their former friendship. I feel satisfied witht he ending as so many shows have disappoint. So although how rushed i still feel happy about the ending and about the Crown Prince and Ra On's ending....
I have to say despite some of the flaws and some parts where it dragged, this was probably one of my favorite Chinese dramas, possibly one out of many of my favorite dramas that i have watched. i like how despite how some characters might have been mean or conniving to the main character, there was no truly "evil" person. Everyone was shown in a realistic light being filled with a goal or drive for their actions, whether they were redeemable or not is up in the air. But despite how much i love the Fourth Prince and Roxy or Rou Xi chemistry (and boy there was chemistry) it was her relationship with all the princes namely the 13th Prince and the Emperor and Yutan that really had me enjoy and hold this series really dear to my heart.
I have to say I am currently watching the Korean version and I love it but I never understood as to why this, the original, was so heavily favored. After watching at most seven episodes so far I see why.
I don't like comparing versions of dramas as each country will handle it differently and will make it good or bad in some ways. I like the Korean version but have to agree that Hae Soo is driving me nuts. I love all the princes in all the versions so there is no competition there and my feelings towards the 8th prince is the same in both: intense dislike and annoyance. While I love the 4th prince in both versions, however, the female lead garnering the princes and male leads attentions is completely distinct. Ruoxi was someone who is bubbly, assertive, and could be described as the typical "candy" type female if this girl wasn't so darn smart and used common sense. I like Hae Soo but it's frustrating to see her tossed into one situation to the next and practically having Wang So (4th prince) dig her out or having someone else do so. It's maddening that she can't absolutely do anything on her own without someone saving or helping her out of the situation.
Such an awesome drama where each character no matter how crappy they were still retained being human. Even if the first group kids were some of the worst of the bunch in how they demean and harassed the other children from the other groups, they weren't caricatures or inhuman characters, they were real, these kids exist and they do it reading the atmosphere but also to keep up appearances. I feel like this drama embodies in elements how it feels in school....well my opinion it does. There always a class clown, a bully, the cool girls too good for anyone else, and etc....Even with the teachers there is a hierarchical system as well. It might have taken certain elements into an extreme but it was never unrealistic. the premise of a 35 year old going to high school yes but the other elements....it was completely true. really great, endearing, and heartwarming drama.
Sad to think about how much I liked it in the beginning. I have absolutely no desire to continue watch the new…
I have to agree as well. I wasn't interested but i was so excited after watching the first three episodes...but then the fourth episode gave me a glimpse of what was to come and i just stopped watching and stuck to the recaps. it disappoints me because it was promising as being a funny rom-com that wasn't serious and built up on the cliche.
The minute that Wook turned his back on Soo in the rain all I could think of at that moment was "Game Over."…
I have to agree IU in this episode was really good and her hug and desperation to "save" LAdy Oh had me almost cry (which is hard for me, i am not that emotional when it comes to dramas) and it was like a breath of fresh air once Wook walked away while she was in the rain i was like cue Wang So is here and finally we can get this romance back on track.
The king is going to lose everything around him one by one and I believe that the 14th prince (whose played by Ji Soo) i hope i'm wrong but he might die or at least sacrifice himself to stop the demented plans of his family. i hope not, him, the 13th prince, and Wang So make these episodes so much more enjoyable and i hope they can stay in there for the long run.
Did I mentioned how much I praised cour Lady Oh for what she said to wang Wook about taking responsibilities and…
I personally don't think she said it because she wouldn't believe it. When she told her to be careful Hae Soo said that Wook doesn't have interest in the throne he has no ambition and was going to marry her, then Lady Oh told her story about the King. Long story short, Hae Soo didn't believe her and wouldn't believe her like most people. People go based on being burned, being tossed into the ringer and burned by fire before learning, the same with Hae Soo. She couldn't believe it because she believed Wook was her one true love and wouldn't leave her despite everything they been through. but she learned where he knew the culprit and didn't out her, saw her kneeling and walked away, and will continue to disappoint her when she is demoted in rank and is treated like dirt. she will see the demented and power hungry side when Wook side with the third prince to finally take over the throne and only then will she finally understand the man that she was in love with was a snake in disguise.
I know this is bad but I'm glad Hae Soo got her heart broken. It's what she's been doing to my…
I was saying THANK GOD he finally betrayed her......so she can finally, FINALLY see the light. Its not that I dislike Wook initially but more so i dislike the concept of how him and Hae Soo fell together. Blame my modern mindset of only having one wife to a person and i know the historical concept behind the multiple wives or interests but that was a straight up game changer for me to not root for them. It didn't help that i really loved Myung Hee
Add in the fact that Jun Ki is putting such flawlessness when it comes to Wang So i just could do nothing but root for him to win Hae Soo. I was literally snapping and clapping at the end of episode 11 when he strode up and offered her his coat while Wook walked away and abandoned her. I'm excited not for Wang So and Hae Soo's story but truly how demented and ambitious Wook's character is fully fleshed out.
