The sex scene was so well done .... others show have to learn from this.In my opinion I did not find problematic…
Right! I was surprised to see how many people disliked this episode. I feel like even though the plot is not the fastest, they use the time at hand smartly by developing the characters and stuff. Also, breathtaking NC. So sweet and tender

Who's not consenting? Jun is totally into it.
I get where you're coming from but not screaming or crying doesn't mean Sorn has that consent. Once again, we know Jun actually likes it cuz we have his pov but Sorn doesn't. It's a rookie mistake that is sadly still common: when a characters magically knows something just because the audience does. I'm not gonna argue about it though cuz I don't think it's that deep and I think that in this particular case, unlike some other BLs, it's not a mistake and the Author actually wants Sorn to be a morally ambiguous character who's pretty selfish/selfcentered and he's probably (or so I hope) going to change after he realizes he doesn't want to lose Jun

We as the audience know he is into it, but Sorn has no way to know that. From his perspective, most of the time Jun doesn't initiate anything, pushs him away more than once before giving in because Sorn would just not stop, complains about it during the act, etc.... So yeah, it is very old BL style, but I have to admit it's quite ok compared to some others. At least he has that clear consent in some of the scenes.

It actually pisses me off that Penny woke up with a cold and was miserable the whole episode, still she had a face full of flawless makeup. This is actually the main reason I don't watch GLs, cuz the main leads always look like robot supermodels, not just in their appearance but the way they act too. That often comes with trashy plotlines.
But still I'd love to find some good ones out there so, I know this is a bit off topic, but does anyone know a GL where the main leads actually act like women and not just dolls with pretty smiles?

Well.
Special effects? Acceptable sometimes, Absolutely ridiculous the second after
Execution? 2010-Indian-Melodrama level worthy
Scenario? Almost made sense at some point only to be rushed back into chaos in the end.
Characterization? All over the place, not a single stable personnality and motivation out there
Directing? Was there even a direction?

Anyway 10/10 I absolutely loved it and I'm already rewatching it as I write this.

I liked it, although it was painful.
Aside from stealing his son's money, I kinda felt for the father. All he was asking for was for his son to keep him updated on what was happening in his life, it isn't like he was willingly putting pressure on him. And although it was obvious to us that he didn't understand his son's needs at all, that position as a father must have been very tough.
Talking about the son, I feel like we didn't get to understand him at all either. From the start we can see that he feels out of place with his friends and father, and it's obvious that he has a pretty big battle he is fighting within himself that keeps him from accepting his attachement to Maki, but at no point do we really get to know exactly what he is fighting. It was frustrating, but it seems like that's the realistic POV the director wanted to convey so I guess it was a success on their part.
I was soooo frustrated towards the end though, because usually Japanese movies are really stiff when it comes to intimacy so I didn't expect anything, but then came the scene with his girl ex crush and I realized how amazing that would have been if he had crossed that line with Maki.
Overall great movie.

Is there any similar BL’s or shows with this feel? Similar.. at least, i reallly loved this!! it was slowburn…
Hey I'm 4 months late but here are similar shows/movies.
If you're looking for slow burn, complicated relationships that doesn't necessarly have a happy ending, where there's a lot of longing for each other: More than words (Jdrama), The time of fever (kdrama), Athlete (Jmovie), Lost in the woods (Thaidrama), Restart after come back home (Jmovie), The cornered mouse dreams of cheese (Jmovie), I told the sunset about you (Thaidrama), Spare me your mercy (Thaidrama)

If you're looking for a good LGBTQ+ story where you're 100% gonna cry your heart out (Again, happy ending not guarantied): Egoist (Jmovie), Life Love on the line (director's cut, Jmovie), The paradise of Thorns (Thaimovie), 52 Hertz Whale (Jmovie, not a BL but it's LGBTQ+)

I'd say the one which's vibe is the closest to this movie, and btw my favorite one would be More than words though

Just stumbled across this on Netflix. Part way through episode 2. 1) I hope the trouple is endgame, gonna be disappointing…
Me tooo I was so scared it would go like "Me, My husband and My husband's boyfriend" or "More than words" but I'm keeping up as it airs and while I can't predict how it'll end, i have good hopes for that one!

I was literally thinking the same thing, or well, since I don't know a lot about drugs, I thought the smoke had…
Yeah it actually kills you pretty quickly. That would have been so funny tho imagine we're only on episode 5, they're planning a big thing to win back their territory, everyone is on edge about what's gonna happen next, they burn dramatically the drugs and then 2 minutes later they just drop dead and that's it, end of serie lmaooo
On The Bangkok Boy May 25, 2025
Uh, actually ☝️🤓 if you burn Fentanyl or any drug really like that it is deadly for you and the people around, so none of these young men would actually be alive to beat shit out of each other
(That being said, the serie is getting more and more awesome as it goes)
