The Queen and Cho Yeon's scene disgusted me.Please someone kill that horrendous person!
What I saw was the Queen coveting a beautiful young body, with the asset of also having priestess powers. She’s already been warned off Jin Bu Yeon, so next best thing is Cho Yeon.
Anyone else severely disappointed that Jang Uk's revolt against the Royals and Jin Mu is all due to Seo Yul getting…
Not really disappointed. To me, it’s more real. Uk is still confused about JBY. There is no doubt about his love for his friend Yul. He can unleash his power with certainty about his cause. Yul is his Heung, who loved and protected him all his life. He is morally upright and has always acted for the greater good, until he protected Naksu. .
They’ve already shown the boys bonds more in Part 2, and UK loves his childhood bro unconditionally. He kept saying he took responsibility for Naksu from the time her first saw her eyes. Yul has always been conflicted and regretful he did not take charge as usual.
I think people misunderstand Yul. He is the moral upright one with strict principals. Naksu is a soul shifter. They are monsters in his eyes, and must be eliminated for the greater good. He was trained to be a leader and thinks of the greater good. He is wracked with guilt, because he also loved and protected Naksu. He feels if he had been resolute and killed her, there would not be so much sorrow in Daeho.
That is why, in Part 2, he is intent on killing her before he dies to stop the evil sorcery, which he feels is the heart of chaos. It’s heartbreaking that because he also loves her, so is willing to die with her. He cannot stand the pain of ending her life.
Uk and Yul have had this discussion in Part 1, that explained their different approaches to sorcery and responsibility. Uk said he was raised the outsider, and does not have the responsibility of doing something for the greater good. Therefore, he can focus on what is in his heart.
The heart of this story is how the youth grow into their roles in this world. Uk will grow his definition of who he is responsible for. In the end, he will be use his power in the fullest sense, for the greater good. And it’s is through those he loves - Yul, JBY/Naksu, Park Jin, Kim Du Ju, etc. He will learn with power becomes responsibility. He must protect the “people” in order to protect his loved ones, and save them from the evil that is afoot.
I didn’t realized LJW was in Memories of Alhambra and Move to Heaven. Both were my favorite Kdrama. Might have…
I noticed him in MoA. Afterward, in WWW:Search I really became impressed with his acting skills and realized he was only 21 at the time. Watched MtH for him, but loved the drama on its own, and discovered a few more actors I admire too.
What does the king's star thing exactly mean? I missed it. How powerful is it?
The former king had a prophecy by Jang Kang that he would father a son under the King’s Star. Since he was staying, he tricked Jang Kang into doing AoS for a week and raved JKs wife, conceiving Uk. That’s why UK should not have been born, since he was conceived by sorcery.
The Kings Star shows up in the Big Dipper with 7 other stars at a time when the all the energies, air, fire, water, and earth are aligned and create a powerful being. It is not determined it it’s for good or evil. Master Lee was serving Uk to determine whether to intervene or leave him be in Part 1. That’s what they worried about.
ThenIce Stone was made from the hail when the drought broke and transformed through all all the elements as well, but was used for sorcery, and was a source of mage wars 200 years ago. It seems to be an external source of power.
Right now, Uk combines both powers, but chooses not to use them except for killing soul shifters. I’m thinking either Yul’s attack or a threat to JBY will trigger him to unleash his powers. Both Yul and JBY will have the influence to keep him on the protective good side, since he loves them both and they are the ones who have the compassion for what’s right and not to cause hurt.
Uk can become King, if he wants, because popular support of the prophecy, but he may refuse it too.
I have a serious question: Do the writers and director actually know that we have only 5 episodes left? I feel…
Guess what? Hold onto your hat! They’ve done it before. They’ve also written disappointing endings. BUT I thought Episode 20 was awesome, and that was only the end of Part 1. Think about it.
Why so many people complaining about ep 5..? Consider this is the adlib of a song while preparing for the climax..…
I just want to ask these people, “Are you paid big money to write?” Then do so. Why wail over the storytelling of the paid writers, whose reputation is certainly bigger than ours in this field!
Yup. I think people are overthinking and using up too much emotional energy. It’s a story by the Hong Sisters.…
I saw all the emotional energy,(a lot of it negative) given into crackpot theories, hate, wailing for actress change before it happened, etc. maybe I’m too passive, but all I wanted to do was enjoy the story as it was presented. Some of it was draggy, and misleading, but that’s the fun of Hong Sisters.
we ended the first half, but the only important progress we have here is Seo Yul and Soi plot. Everything else…
I felt that MD was never willing to die for Uk. All of his actions from the beginning and the OSTs showed he was willing to die for her, and he did. He saw it as “taking responsibility”. No matter how outrageous she was, he took the blames and punishment .
Don’t feel so sorry for Cho-Yeon in Paart 2. What she is going through is nothing to her childhood under Jin Mu, and she survived. She is a survivor. No matter how much he rejects her, she shakes it off and continues on.
Because her vow is to protect him. To me she is not weak, but staying true to her vow. When he hurts she tries to comfort him. Mer mind is the same. She analyzes her situation each time, and resets her course. He doesn’t have room in his heart for her? She’ll respect that, but Mama Jin needs his presence so she can continue to be free. The jade memories make him sad? OK, she’s put away the jade and enjoy her freedom. Haha! He confuses her though, because he has to check on the handhold; Kim DoJu scolded him for being a dog. I loved how they got the peacock metaphor in their, but ended up calling Cho-Yeong a chicken!
Yes, he hurst her, but it’s nothing she can’t take. Did you see what she endured from Mama Jin. The pain she endures is worth her freedom. From the GPS, to the pinpricks of UKs confusion.
And did you notice? She an active part of his schemes right now. He uses her, but trusts her to cooperate. He still honors his pact to keep her free. Hopefully they will get back to solving puzzles together. And remember, even in Part 1, they didn’t sync until later. At first h was the victim of her schemes. Then they started coordinating after the prisoner conundrum of Park Jin.
Strength takes many forms. It does not have to be physically bad ass. Her mind is bad ass.
Part 1 had lots of filler and moved a glacial pace too. Everybody complained. The previews in Part 1 were off too. They’d show scenes that ended up being 2-3 episodes further out. This Part 2, the previews seem to be truly for the next episode.
