It's been a long time since I've seen the original one, but I forgot how much this story made me cry T_T Also, I was secretly hoping that the couple would end up together this time. But actually seeing it reminded me that the story only works if they don't end together. The movie only hits you so hard because of that.
Rewatching this and I had forgotten how faithful to the manga it was. It may be the most faithful version out of all of them, except maybe the anime. MG2018 comes pretty close too though.
He’s been in so many asadoras: Himawari, Kokoro, Dondo Hare, Ohisama, Hanako to Anne, Natsuzora, and Chimudondon. I’ve already seen him in three. It’s too bad I can’t see him in Himawari or Kokoro yet. Hopefully those two are subbed eventually.
Exceeded character limit so I'm leaving the pros and cons here:
Pros: The acting from Liza and Enrique was surprisingly strong for the entire show, particularly during emotional moments. Their chemistry is also topnotch. The supporting cast was great, at well, supporting lol. Characters like Bettina and Soledad also stand out for going from antagonistic to positive. For the most part, most characters have good reasons for their actions and very few things seem to come out of nowhere.
Cons: The length is probably the worst con. I really wish the writers hadn't tried to extend the story for no good reason. Then there's Kate (I'm sorry I find her hand to forgive her lol). Agnes's mother Marites is given little character development and really just annoying whenever she's onscreen. And finally, Sheree and Julius are the worst characters on the show. I honestly don't understand Sheree's motivations. Yes, she's the legal wife, but she was find with Alex being with his "mistress" Bettina for twenty-plus years, why care now? She and Julius are basically just there to perform whatever villainous actions is needed at the time. Also, the drama needed some sort of second couple that was stable during the second part.

I like the premise and am a fan of Fukuhara Haruka, but 126 episodes is around 10 times too many for me to invest…
Since it's an asadora with each episode being a fifteen minutes long, the show is really only 1 day and 7 hours worth of content. To me at least, it's not really hard to finish an asadora if it's good. The problem with this one is that it hasn't been completely subbed :(
