Title A Vow in the Dark Spoiler
Then they had the nerve to give her the monologue about what "Love" really means. And I'm thinking, well,…
Yeah, I agree. She totally lost my support because the ML didn't give her any reason to doubt his sincerity. He even dressed in drag to save an enemy because she wanted him to. He didn't cause her pain or torture, not that I could remember. The real villain was her own ppl. All the damn demons wanted was a little bit of sunlight. Not too much to ask and those selfish, self righteous Immortals didn't want to share. Nor did they want to believe the demons were more peace loving and generous than they were. All of the Immortals were the villains to me.

I'd have to say 'And you call demons evil, but only one of us seems to care about the world and the other only about power."

This drama made no sense. How do you love someone when you don't trust them? Bro, I swear the ML got abused in…
Then they had the nerve to give her the monologue about what "Love" really means. And I'm thinking, well, if you had believed any word of what you're talking about, then you wouldn't be in this mess of your own making when you betrayed your man by not ever trusting him.

Title Blazing Elegance Spoiler
I'm on ep. 21 and she returned stronger. Yes, that's all fine and dandy. But the ML is different. And I feel like she is cruel. He should have to be held accountable for what he did wrong. His actions were not done out of malice though, but desperation. She kept pushing him away because of her own inferiority complex, thinking they weren't meant to be. She kept telling herself they lived in two different worlds and for him, that didn't matter. in his attempt to keep his word to her, he made mistakes like trying to get her pregnant to force his family to accept her. Not letting her leave because he felt her leaving was a poor decision. And technically it was. She didn't leave because she hated him. She left because she thought she could never be with him. But he did everything possible to prove to her that they could be together.

She gave up time and time again and even abandoned her son. All she heard was that a baby didn't make it and didn't bother to confirm if it was her child or not. But upon returning and realizing her son survived, she wants to take him away from his dad. Like that boy who's known his father's love his whole life will just be okay with that. What is she going to say when he wants to see his father again? Why does she feel like his father doesn't deserve to be in his life when she's the one who abandoned him.

The second thing I've seen her do that was malicious was having him move his ancestral grave to build that facility. What satisfaction is she supposed to get out of that? What lesson is that supposed to teach him? She blamed him for things he didn't even do like claiming he wanted to take her every thought and make all of her decisions. In the beginning before he got desperate, they were happy. She had her job and he didn't interfere. It wasn't until she tried to leave him because of her own fear and inferiority complex, did he before afraid and obsessed and tried to keep her by his side. He never wanted her to be his mistress, that was all in her head. That's why he did the crazy things he did was to make her his lawful wife, which he did, but she couldn't accept. Again, because of her own issues thinking they weren't meant to be.

Now on her revenge tour, she's messed his man's head up so bad, he's suicidal and the entire city is at risk and he could care less if he lives or dies.

FL has me side-eyeing her right now. This is not what makes a strong woman.

Title Once upon a Dream Spoiler
I'm only on ep. 4 but from a Devil's Advocate POV,

FL has been making promises to get what she wants without ever keeping them. When. She was a child, to be able to stay with the ML, she promised to do whoever he wanted. He held up his end by allowing her to live in the lap of luxury.

When he returned, to avoid his brother, she came to him, promising again to do anything if he helped her. Now, mind you, she still hasn't repair the first promise. So, ML tells her what he wants and she claims that's not what she wants even though she's lying to herself because it is.

So, she's a liar and a user. Because she could leave his home at anytime instead of acting like she can't, but she doesn't want to leave the wealth behind and instead attempt to marry a Prince.

thats exactly right, fan yue was at the end of his power and it was IMPORTANT to his character what choice he…
It's a pet peeve of mine especially depending on the characters and situations. This ML is known for his quick and decisive action. He came there to end the villain. He already knows the villains agenda and what is at stake. Not killing the villain won't save his brother and only puts him and his woman as well as the world or Eastern continent as they say, in jeopardy. Who else but him can do it at that moment? He already sacrificed a star to be able to gain the advantage only to lose it because he didn't act when he should have.

As a leader who is known for being ruthless when necessary, it went against his character for him to not finish off the villain, which would have taken a second for someone of his power level. Then he could have held his brother and said their goodbyes.

Because he didn't, he nearly got himself killed, was helpless the whole time his woman had to put herself in danger to protect him. I get that the writers wanted to have them have their "I'll die for you and protect you" moment, but it should not be at the expense of the character development and logic of the plot.

So, it is something that does annoy me but as long as the story is entertaining, I enjoy it.

I'm also concerned about a clip that is shown in the credits where there is another trope that I think they'll use that annoys me and it is the "hurting you to help you". Where one character will say and do something to cause pain to the other as a way to save them. It never proves to be the best decision when the other character figures it out.

People need to realize you can still criticize something for it's flaws and still find enjoyment in it. I've been enjoying this, but that was something that many shows and movies have characters do. From Friday the 13th to content like this series.

A character will finally get in a good move that renders the villain helpless and instead of finishing him off, they always run to injured person and then the villain rises and causes even more trouble. It only takes less than a min to finish a villain off. Quick decap.

The smart thing to do is not even put the hero and villain in that scenario if the story isn't ready to be concluded, or if another villain is ready to rise. I'd rather the villain flee than be knocked out and not killed in time.

Yes, I can understand the wish to carry out her mother's wishes - that is not overly sentimental and just honours…
I agree. Like, it's not as if they grew up together. And what about the trail of bodies left in her sister's path? Do those ppl not deserve justice? She could have at least called the police instead of thinking her sister should walk free.
On Glory in Shadows Jan 20, 2026
So, they decided to make the FL a sentimental idiot at the end. I hate that because she was so strong and confident and smart the whole time. Yes, the villain was predictable, but this was still fun to watch for the level of crazy the villain had.

Any reason why they didn't cut the villains head off in sp. 27? Because that was the perfect time. He was unconscious, helpless. I hate when they have characters do stupid stuff just to extend the plot. Yeah, I get it, your brother is injured, but the immediate threat to the world is supposed to be your priority. Kill him THEN go check on your brother.

So basically, you agreed with what I said when I called him a horndog that allows his lust to create problems.

This isn't a question about who he loves the most. I was pointing out that he is the cause of a lot of his problems regarding his wives. He ignored issues he should have addressed. He believed lies instantly when it came to Ruyi without carrying out proper investigations. Look at how he treated her and that's why he was so regretful at the end.

Please answer me you The FML right.. because at the beginning of This drama she know martial arts
I'm actually an author, so I'm always watching these stories with a critical eye.

I wrote a review for this series because I believe they failed in the romance dept. They started off right and after he solved his case, it felt like she just wanted to punish him for not keeping his word.

I believe he will continue being an investigator because he was still the Perfect of their town, he just didn't want to take on his father's title and responsibilities in the capital.

He will probably end up being the Governor through promotions. What I meant by them working together. It's true that they didn't sabotage each other's plans. Take the ending for instance, trying to solve the brother's murder. She helped him and also reminded him of his own strength when he was feeling overwhelmed by his father. Then the times when they were being framed during the competition. Him being framed as someone's husband and father. They knew with just a look into each other's eyes, what needed to be done. Those are the scenes.

Personally, I would have had them sit down and talk about what happened after he got all of his memories. Maybe a bit of groveling because he did break his word. But, I would have had them get back together and stay that way to be a power couple not to be trifled with.

My type of soap opera mess. Very intelligent FL, devoted ML, scheme jealous women and men and insane obsession and greed. Good times. I'm having fun with this bite size drama.

Yeah, like had LJL mentor not died, would he even had come in contact with the real Yan? And RSB didn't suspect YBL until that tea plantings so she knew he was lying about having an agenda, but didn't know what he was lying about, who he really was and what his true agenda was. She found all of that out at the wedding.

I liked that they found ways to rely on each other and that they didn't get in the way of each other's methods. She shocked him during that trial when she set up Jiang. And to me, that made them even, but she was still kind of punishing him for not being honest about Mrs. Yang.

My only real complaint was the lack of romance after ep. 19. Felt more like partnership and pining on his end and her playing hard to get but hoping he'd still deliver on hers.

thanks for the heads up about the character going overboard all caught up in her feelings. I'll keep that in mind now that I've decided to watch it.
