I read using Imtranslator but its being translated to english, the link is on the longest promise page here in mydramalist. The female lead is on dumb side, really really, really dumb side. In the end really is always very different from dramas, but somewhat dramas will have influence from the real relationship between Chinese. But costumes dramas will show more of a idealized romance, what Chinese think is the perfect romance, willing to sacrifice, faithful through all eternity, lasting many lives. But modern dramas will show romance more like it is nowadays, with blind dates, misunderstandings, work life creating difficulties, time and distance making them part, money oriented love since China is now money oriented country. You can pick those characteristics from dramas.

I agree, Cheng Xiao needs to improve her a acting by A LOT. Xu Kai, as his character did in the game, carried the show lol. He was incredible as Lu Sicheng and even his expressions there are so different from Qing Mu and Bai Jue, everytime he does a character I can totally tell them apart from each other. He is not the most handsome actor in my list (that place is Xiao Zhan’s lol) but he is amazing talented, so expressive.

The novel is Zhu Yan by Cang Yue, but I only found 38 chapters I'm not sure if it is the whole novel, I guess not because I'm currently on 32 chapter and it seems lke the beginning of the story.
