Episode 7 was a slower episode, but it delivered in terms of emotions and character development - Hong Ji Ah's cold exterior is finally giving away, and she has warmed up a lot towards In Bum. She cares for him, that's certain, and both are more frank with one another.
Also, I am grateful that Hong Ji-Ah is always dressed practically when she has to do an exorcism or visits a haunted property. There's been so many instances of FL's being dressed in heels for occasions that demand chasing and physical exertion in shows that it's become a criteria for me to judge how serious the drama takes its characters.
The flash of concern on Hong Ji Ah's face when In Beom was subjected to a second beating was everything. It's obvious she was acting unbothered initially to disconcert Hak Sung.
I like that she's strong but not completely devoid of emotion. She might be pretty jaded but she's not a monster…
Exactly! I was afraid she would be one of those strong women who had no semblance of decency and emotions to her. She does in fact have those qualities, only she is very blunt when she disapproves of someone or something.
Jang Nara is in top three of this month's brand reputation ranking, the only woman in top five. She's killing it and grabbing attention, and she deserves it.
Watched episode 12, and I have to laugh at the second couple. So SML isn't bad because he could not carry out his little crime though he was more than halfway into it? Smh.
With all the hate going on for the FL in the comments, I thought there would be someone who would also point out how possessive and forceful the ML can be. Girl is naive, and we can't really blame her for not knowing things. And if what I am hearing about the SML is correct, then he shouldn't have been a main character with a romance arc at all. C-dramas tend to be really good or really... nonsensical.
Oh, and did I mention the opening OST? It was lovely, and with time you learn how absolutely bittersweet the lyrics are, it was about Ze Yu, his ambition, and maybe even his love for Fu Zi.
The last two episodes? I cried like a baby. The ugly, snotty cry. This drama is hopeful, and does not lose that quality throughout. It's riddled with hardships, but there was a bittersweet touch to it. It never promises fulfilment of dreams, yet it does promise the will to persevere and improve.
Having read the spoilers, I thought I would not be satisfied with the closing scene, but I adore it! It captured the dynamics of Fu Zi and Ze Yu perfectly, their love for one another and their personalities. When Fu Zi began to shed tears as she smiled, in her characteristic sunflower Fu Zi way, and Ze Yu smilingly did his slow little affectionate head shake at her, in his typical Ze Yu way, silently asking her not to cry - it was that little moment that spoke everything about them. I love them.
I will miss this. I loved the almost indie feel to it. It is definitely rewatchable.
