Han YeRi was, once again, great in the 23rd episode. Her grief when Yi Hyun visited her was so well-conveyed. You don't have to overdo it to convey the depth of emotions. She was restraining her emotions, not trying too hard to show them, and that, someone has said before, is a mark of a great actor.
I think it had to come from Nokdu's mouth for Yi Hyun to think about his actions so far. He was obviously affected by his conclusions about him, and, as witnessed in his last meeting with him, wanted Nokdu to stay alive in hopes of returning the humanity to Joseon's soil.
Watching eisode 45, and General Nokdu always impresses me. He is so audacious. I love how he gives zero f***s that Oni is sitting in front of him. If he wants to mock you, he will; if he wants to tell you how big of a scum you are, he will. I loved how he was enjoying his food. Lmao, the scene was so funny but sad at the same time.
How so? I heard it was pretty good, although the reviews focused more on the great cinematography and the setting.
You are right about the attention. I think Mr Sunshine, since it aired on tvN, gained viewers based on that fact alone, because of the repute of their production. This one, however, was on SBS + is not romance focused. It's frustrating, all right *insert devastated emoticon here*
I was listening to the OST by FORESTELLA, and the lyrics are so simple yet moving. Not to mention their epic delivery. Leaves me with goosebumps, I swear.
"Bird, bird, blue bird, Don't sit on the Nokdu field Because if the Nokdu flower falls The Changpo General will cry and go
Bird, bird, blue bird Don't sit on our farm Bird, bird, blue bird, Don't sit on our field,
The southern bird goes South The northern bird goes North..."
The 39 year old's story is actually sad and pathetic, n the sense that his ex did not even properly communicate with him and shut him out like he was going to read her mind. It really makes women look bad. She is pretty unreasonable so far
Also, a sort of unpopular opinion: Yoon Shi Yoon and Han Ye Ri have great chemistry. I love Lady Song and Yi Kang together, don't get me wrong, but Shi Yoon and Ye Ri have a potential to pull off a romance if they are paired together in another drama. It might also have to do with the dynamics of their relationship in this drama and the friction between their characters, but I absolutely love their interactions. Don't kill me!
I used to hate Lord Hwang, but he has redeemed himself. Not of his mistakes, but in his principles, and I found…
A significant part I found in this episode was when he confronted Lord Hwang, a changed man who realized his hand in destroying his country; and confronted himself, or Oni, who still refused to accept his wrongdoing, and obsessively blamed his teacher. When he hesitated to shoot, and for a moment pretended not to possess the intention to kill him, only to shoot him later, nails his personality. He knows, deep down, he is too far gone, too involved in the fall of his people, but he wants to redeem himself in his own eyes to protect the bit of sanity left.
The part of me that wants Yi Hyun to suffer enjoyed when Hwang woke him up with his words.
I used to hate Lord Hwang, but he has redeemed himself. Not of his mistakes, but in his principles, and I found myselt respecting him when he said what he said to Oni. The grey and coloured division between the two was symbolic in defining who saved himself and protected their people in the end.
The episode 21 is so heartbreaking. But they pulled it off beautifully. I swear to God, if this drama does not get an award on major award shows next year, I will rip my hair out.
