😂Honestly, I am so used to Thai series by now, I didn’t pay attention to this. From what I’ve seen so far, they call their older friends P’ or Dr (if a friend is a MD) all the time unless they are the same age and close friends. Of course, I don’t know Thai and go off of what I hear in the series. My impression is that it’s a norm to be extremely polite to older people even if it’s just a year older. Ter is at least 2-3 years older since he was a head hazer when Dee was a freshman. I noticed they even call a friend med. student “doctor”, so this was not a “sign” to me. Again, I might be wrong and Dee might be too proper in this case 😉
The thing is - if you thought someone is dead boring - would you spend a lot of time and effort on them for 8 years? I know I wouldn’t. Ter doesn’t look like a Mother Theresa so far, but he just might be, we’ll see 🤷‍♀️😂

People tend to think positively in that respect when they have a crush, so every little detail becomes so significant they are ready to go shopping for wedding rings 😉In Dee’s case, he should wonder why Ter never made a move in 8 years… But he can’t see this sign maybe because he’s shy and judges others based on his own personality. 🤷‍♀️

Exactly, nobody cares 😂 And if for someone it’s a dealbreaker - again, their loss. If Ter seriously meant it, then it’s his personal taste and he’s just stating a fact. So Dee really should just leave him alone. He pretty much made Ter say something unpleasant after pressuring him for an answer. But what did he expect to hear to a negative question such as “why don’t you like me?” 🤷‍♀️”You’re so gorgeous I can’t take it?” 🙄
I really like Dee, and Ter is indeed an ass just because of his request to let him have the scholarship, but Dee in this case is such an adorable idiot 🤦‍♀️😻

Thank you for this definition 😊 I haven’t heard this expression in this sense, only in the sense of “someone who is not into alternative lifestyle”. If Ter meant it in your definition, he’s just wrong. In my view, Dee is not plain or boring. If he was supposed to be like that, they picked wrong actor 😂 This Dee is extremely cute, smart and interesting to me. Also, you never know what a person is like in bed from their behavior outside of the bedroom.
So, if Ter meant it like that - his loss. Then again, if Dee is so plain and uninteresting, why did Ter spent all this time and effort on him? I guess we’ll see as the series unfolds.
As for Dee’s unsuccessful attempts to be “wild” - of course it looked unnatural and funny. It’s not his nature and and forcing himself into the mold looks just like that 🙀😂

I see two possible reasons why Ter said that Dee is too vanilla.
1. Dee insisted on Ter’s answer “why you don’t like me”. Ter told him twice that he likes girls. That’s where Dee should have just let it be. But, Dee proceeded with a stupid (imo) question - “Why don’t you like me regardless of gender?” Seriously??? Dee, you don’t have a chance even if you are a leather daddy or whatever Ter’s kink might be, simply because he’s not gay. It reminded me of stupid BL girls who pressure gay men with the same kind of questions, even after they are told they’re gay 🙄At this point, Ter might be just trying to scare Dee away.
So, reason #1 - ask stupid question, get stupid answer.
2. Ter is really into something alternative, and Dee is really “too vanilla FOR TER”. It’s not an insult, just a fact. There’s nothing wrong with either of them, they just don’t match in their style.
So, reason #2 - just stating the fact 🤷‍♀️

Since you’ve read the novel, are they even going to have enough material to cover 16 episodes? I enjoy the series, but so far the plot is very simple to hold this many episodes.

Yes, it does have supportive parents in several series, and they make more of those, which is great. I always recognize those parents and love it when they’re present.
I was talking about a trope that I don’t like across the board, not just in Thai BLs. This particular BL has an example of an abusive parent and of a gambler parent who expects everyone including his child to give him money.

I noticed this drinking thing too! It’s everywhere, dramas from same countries plus Japan! I have seen plenty of drunks in my life, and they are anything but cute! 😳 Also, kissing a drunk person especially after they just threw up is… well… not my cup of tea for sure! 🤣

I agree. I think it’s great when family members pitch in and help each other, but adults should take responsibility for their own mistakes, like gambling, investing in schemes etc. If kids want to help, it’s wonderful, but to a certain extent, not dropping out of college and/or selling their bodies 😡I really dislike this trope in the dramas.

Totally agree with you, and this trend goes on in K, Thai, Taiwan dramas and novels! Seriously, what’s wrong with those grown ass adults with no shame??? And kids somehow don’t even say a word, they just take on all those debts and responsibilities! It must be cultural thing. I can’t see it happening in Europe or the US. I’m not saying not to help your parents, but the key word is “help”, not “take it all on yourself” 🤷‍♀️

I totally agree with you, I was just saying that I don’t know why someone would think they’re not handsome. Of course, it’s a matter of personal taste, and they are very much up to my taste 😻 Honestly, this is my first C drama of that period, so the hairstyle is not something I’m used to, but it doesn’t spoil anything in my view. It’s a very manly style, appropriate for the given period. Anyway, I’m definitely enjoying it!
Btw, do you have any recommendations for historical dramas - Chinese or Thailand? I like Korean historical dramas, but I haven’t seen many of Chinese or Thai.
