I’m watching several series right now, but Ming and Tong take the “hate” crown with no close contenders! Props to Up and Mek!

I started reading it but people here say it’s much worse than the series, and I’m frustrated with the series enough, so I dropped the novel. Granted, I haven’t read much yet.

You mean in DBK? At first it did look like Gawin’s character was a top, but closer to the end they were openly discussing who will be “doing” who that night, and it seemed like a normal everyday discussion for them, so I was glad to see a different dynamic.

I could never understand that “bottom is just like a woman” thing. Why is it so hard to understand that preferred position in bed has absolutely nothing to do with the masculinity of a guy 🤦‍♀️To be fare, I also dislike when females are portrayed as always avoiding physical contact, and I see the parallel between portraying women and “bottom” gay men, which drives me up the wall. Like why wouldn’t Cher let his established boyfriend just give him a casual kiss? 🤨

I did think that Yak’s affection for Dee is totally different from the way he sees the girl. While he can’t take his hands off of Dee and displays all sorts of sexual tension with him, Yak’s affection for the girl looks more platonic to me. It signals more of an admiration and gratitude to her. So yes, it was weird to see such a discrepancy in a supposedly bisexual man. And I agree, I couldn’t feel any jealousy because of it, while Yak going after another guy would make a huge difference.

Oh well, I guess we have to hope to see more natural relationships in BLs. Actually, I think one of the very first “verse” relationships was portrayed in Dark Blue Kiss between Pond’s and Gawin’s characters. It looked very natural and fresh to me.

sexual assault - rape. I strongly dislike the trope of rape to lovers, so I prefer to stay away from those novels/series. I found out that even if they make series skipping it, the original novel might contain it. So before I read I try to find out if it’s worth my time and money 😊

I totally agree with you. “Love at first sight” is too romanticized and young people really think it can happen. I agree that when it “happens” it’s pure luck that the preferred looks match the preferred personality.

Ok, Ming is undoubtedly a grade A asshole, but I admit even assholes can fall in love. My question to Ming, though, would be - what the heck does he see in Tong except for his beautiful back (which is not even his)??? So he hasn’t even spent any quality time with Tong, having left for America right after they met. And he’s already in love??? With what exactly? It seems to me that Tong just grabbed his chance when introduced to Ming’s sister (big sponsor’s kid). Even if Tong wouldn’t mind sleeping with Ming - he can’t afford it being in the industry. So his obvious choice is a girl whom he can legally marry and get into a rich family. I might be wrong, but he’s too sleazy for my taste. We’ll see. But still, Ming had almost no interaction with Tong - where’s this obsession coming from? 🤷‍♀️

From what I understand, he does have a heart condition where his heart sometimes can beat too fast to the point of hurting. So his sister chose to work at his school to keep an eye on him and give him meds. That’s why he looks concerned when his watch gives out warning about his heart rate going up. He was mistaking it for his condition acting up while it was his reaction to being with a person he likes 😊
