Title Love Deeply!
what the secret she is hiding??
Giving away the secret gives away the entire story. I can spoil it if you really want, but I think it's worth watching to find out.

People disappointed coz they didn't actually kiss. Fun fact about Jinmai, on Reset, they waited for Jinmai to…
I always wondered why they didn't show the kiss! This makes sense though, and I honestly really appreciate it. They're only year apart in age, so it wouldn't be inappropriate in that regard, but I also think we should probably not be so comfortable with the idea of having minors act out things like that. Kind of wish that were the norm in western media.

Omg she really submitted that as her drawing to get into the art club?! I thought she submitted the wrong paper…
I'm also currently rewatching this drama right now, and I'm at this specific part of the story, and I'm super heated up about it, lol.

Sorry for the literal book, lol. I am an artist myself. I didn't study art in school, but I've been drawing since high school and doing watercolor for a few years as well. I did study music at university for a time though, and I know a lot about how both work in university settings. And art and music departments aren't actually interested in helping students grow and improve. They mostly just try to fit you into a pre-made mold. If you fit, then they love you and will spend lots of energy helping you be a better artist or musician. But if you don't fit and your chosen art or music style is outside of what university art and music departments consider 'real' art and 'real' music, then they don't really care what happens to you or whether you improve in your craft.

It was perfectly appropriate for the assignment. And if you compare it to the examples of some of the other student's manhole cover art a few scenes later, hers is much better. One is literally just a smiley face sun, so mostly one color with a few different colored lines for the smile and eyes and cheeks. It's very, very simple. The other artwork just looks odd. Like I literally can't figure out what it even is.

I do think the smiley sun works for the project, even though it's really simple. (Simplicity is not a sign of bad art.) The other art example though is simply not appropriate for the assignment. It doesn't utilize the design of the manhole cover well, and it looks pretty terrible once it's been painted. You can't even see the design properly.

Given the general design of manhole covers, they're not necessarily the best place for particularly complex art. They have all kinds of bumps and grooves and lettering that get in the way: https://duckduckgo.com/?q=manhole+covers&atb=v280-1&iax=images&ia=images Of course, I'm sure there are some talented artists out there who could find really creative ways to use those aspects of a manhole cover to create something really interesting. But these are University students, and they're in University, because they don't have those skills yet and need to learn them.

Personally, I have a problem with the way MiaoMiao's art is critiqued. Her piece was not only super cute and well-done, but it also utilizes the shape and design of a manhole cover really well. But then a few scenes later we see this simpler, less 'creative' and 'individual' artwork, being painted on one of the manhole covers, and I just want to shout 'How is that better than her art???'

The critique she's given is just incredibly unhelpful. It's essentially 'We think it's boring.' 'It's not fine art.' 'It's not creative.' 'It's not individual.' There is nothing in what they said that is actionable on MiaoMiao's part, it's all just subjective opinions. And if you listened to every subjective opinion that said your work is boring or uncreative or whatever else, you'd literally never make any art ever.

It's also not the point of the assignment.

When they assigned the project, they said they were going to evaluate the students based on two criteria: to see how well they get used to the usual activities of the club and to see what their basic art skills are. She wasn't critiqued on either of those things, which means there was nothing actually wrong with her art. They just didn't personally like it. And their personal tastes are kind of irrelevant.

This is actually a pretty big bur in the side of a lot of artists whose work does not fit within the very limited expectations of University art departments. They only value and appreciate specific types of art, and if you do anything outside of them (such as a cartoony style, manga/graphic novel art, etc.) these University's and their departments snub their noses at you, because you're not doing 'fine art.' It's a pretty gross attitude, frankly.

At the end of the day, they set an assignment to paint a manhole cover. A Literal. Manhole Cover. And there is only so much you can do that will work well on a manhole cover, so if they wanted fine art, then they should have set a more appropriate assignment.

I'm rewatching this, and it still burns my grits how they critiqued the art MiaoMiao submitted for the manhole cover contest. The critique was essentially 'We think it's too boring to put on a manhole cover.' Her art was not only super cute, but it also utilized the shape and design of a manhole cover really well. It was honestly perfect for the project. But they're all like 'It's not fine art! It's not creative! It's not individual!'

You see a couple examples right after of how some of the other students painted manhole covers on campus, and their art is...not any better than hers. One of the examples is literally a smiley face sun (so mostly one color with a few different colored lines for the smile and eyes). The other artwork just looks odd. Like I literally can't figure out what it is. Is it the moon? Does someone live in the moon? What's the weird thing underneath it? Is this supposed to be modern art? Are you supposed to just make up your own interpretation? Is this what we want on our manhole covers?

I don't understaaaaaaaaaaand!

They give this heavy-handed, illogical critique of her art... because of a manhole cover. Dude. It's a manhole cover.

A MANHOLE COVER.

Taxation in most countries is just legal theft.
I'm not bothered by paying some level of taxes in order to provide certain services to the general public, but when your countries taxes are this complicated, and you're taxing your citizens for things like the act of purchasing goods and services (a necessary part of keeping an economy running, so you should actually be thanking people for doing it), And many of the services your taxes pay for are not always well run, AND your tax money is 100% going towards things you oppose/are of no benefit to the actual citizens...yeah. That's theft at that point.

I would love to find this somewhere to watch. Especially after the recent drama was such a disappointment. I bet this is twenty times better.

The last two episodes had simultaneously the most (and best) character and plot development of the whole series And some of the stupidest/most annoying/most unnecessary junk of the entire series. It literally makes me wish I hadn't stuck it out and finished the thing.

This drama is a big, fat waste of time. I would recommend it to no one. I wouldn't even recommend it to your cat who would watch your screensaver for hours and not get bored.

lmao that is quite *A* choice to wait till the end of episode 9 out of 10 in a supposed romcom to bring the leads…
For real, yo.

I don't know what taxes are like in Korea, but in America, they are complicated as hell. The IRS also frequently makes mistakes on its end that it likes to try and hold you responsible for. I won't express an opinion on her particular situation, but I can totally see how someone could make an accounting error. It's kind of a common thing to happen.

giving it a rewatch, is it just me or did they lose the music rights to close to you? wtf
I finished watching it last week, and I'm pretty sure I heard Close to You throughout the drama.

This drama has given me plenty of laughs. I definitely won't pretend it hasn't. But I still can't help being disappointed that they didn't make any effort to elevate the storyline. I'm perfectly happy to watch a tropey drama, but I want something that uses its tropes in interesting and creative ways. This drama is just so low-effort, like they couldn't be bothered to actually write a story.

I'm also disappointed by how little they've actually used the original source material. Surely there were more scenes from the cartoon (or even the manwha) they could have pulled in. Why bother even using the cartoon if they were going to use so little of it?

I just finished the last episode, and this was such a wonderful watch. Very happy I watched this.

Future Edit: Just had to come back and add to this commentlol.

This was a sweet, romantic, heartfelt watch from beginning to end. There were some wonderful messages about being the main character of your own life instead of choosing to live like a side character, the romance is extra romantic (and healthy) with two leads that are likable and likable together (the male lead starts out rough, but you get to know him and his behavior begins to make sense), and there's no unnecessary or drawn out drama or extremely terrible characters or outlandish situations. It's just a lovely story about lovely people.

And I finally understand what all the hype and love for Choi Si Won's Shin Hyeok was all about. He was hilariously, charmingly, swooningly, heartbreakingly wonderful, lol.
