I think the writers are trying to make the point that despite what he thinks he feels for Veronica, she just doesn't…
I'm actually very happy with this weeks eps, lol. Like deeply satisfied. We got a lot of explanation into what Min Ik's actual motivations have been up until now, just why he's been pursuing Veronica so hard when he and Gal Hee are so obviously right for each other. Before this week, I couldn't figure out why, after only meeting Veronica once, he just absolutely needed to see her again, and then after two meetings he was declaring himself in love. But now we know it was because she reminded him so much of Gal Hee, and that's who he's actually been in love with all this time. With this explanation in hand, I've pretty much gotten over his inability to recognize the similarity as something deeper. Veronica reminding him of Gal Hee works as a motivation for me, so I'm not bothered that he didn't end up figuring it out for himself. Truthfully, I think the confusion and frustration a lot of us have been feeling over his inability to put two and two together would have been halved (if not eliminated) by the writers simply not making him this great 'face genius' initially. It ended up being such a minor plot point in the first couple eps to then never be brought up again that you can easily whisk it away as not story canon and just operate under the assumption that losing his ability to recognize faces weakened his ability to recognize other details about people. Of course, I fully expect the writers to give him his facial recognition ability back again in the last couple eps, so they'll probably make him a 'face genius' again as well, but I don't think I even care anymore, lol. I'm honestly more salty that they're treating it as facial blindness rather than a psychological response to trauma. Because this ain't facial blindness. In any context, lol. I was also pleasantly surprised by how the real Veronica chose to deal with being impersonated. I thought when she told Gal Hee to keep the ruse up, it was solely so she could use the situation to her benefit (which I found infuriating), but it was actually her pushing Gal Hee into doing the right thing, and then when Gal Hee finally broke down, Veronica was basically like 'You created this situation for yourself, and now you gotta fix it.' And I'm fully confident that if he hadn't found out before she got the chance, Gal Hee would have finally told him the truth this week, because she had finally reached her limit.
lol, I knew the secretaries were stealing/exchanging the stuff, but I didn't think it's related to that paper…
Also, the reveal that the secretaries are actually behind the strange document, and not only that but they've been stealing from the higher ups, was a totally shocking twist I did not expect, but boy do I like it. It's so different from what you typically get in dramas like this.
thank god he's finally finding out tomorrow! Which means we're moving on to the break up and angst (well angst-ier?)…
I'm so happy it's finally coming out! I'm even more happy to see that the reason he liked 'Veronica' was actually because he had liked Gal Hee the whole time, and Veronica reminded him of her. It all just unfortunately happened during a time when he still hadn't acknowledge his feelings for Gal Hee and was experiencing a lot of unrelated upheaval in his life, so it was easier for him to sort of 'replace' her in his mind.

Veronica was really on point this ep. I thought her punishment for Gal Hee was just a way for her to manipulate the situation in her favor, but turns out, she's actually not that much of a jerk and was really just trying to teach Gal Hee a lesson about honesty. And then she pointed out that the person Gal Hee hates isn't another woman. It's herself. Oof. Some tough lessons there.

I'm frustrated with the writers on that front as well. What's the point of setting up all these obvious signs if they're not going to lead to him figuring it out of his own accord? There is no point.
I was fully on board for that kiss though. I didn't see it as being wrong for him to kiss her seeing as as far as he knows, 'Veronica' doesn't want to date him. You can't step out on someone you're not even with. Now on Gal Hee's end, it would have been wrong, but I still wanted it to happen. Like you, I wanted him to kiss her and go 'Wait. Is this...?' 'Wait. I don't love Veronica. I love Gal Hee.' 'Wait. What if I been doing all this time?' But alas, no.
Last 12 episodes... you are too generous, be it while rating this drama or with your expectations from other viewers.…
I can totally agree with that. It's really not good form to rate a drama before it's finished airing. But I was responding to Anime Life's comment which doesn't specify if they're referring to people who haven't actually watched the full drama or if she's just making a generalization about everyone who rates a drama highly.

I mean, people like what they like. I've been enjoying this drama so far. Yes, there are flaws in the story and some things that are frustrating, but I'm excited to sit down and watch it every week. I don't think that makes me stupid.

It is pretty confusing. The story would have benefitted from a more in-depth explanation of what's going on in Min Ik's head. I wouldn't consider it similar to cheating though. It's all very within the realm of are-we, aren't-we, sort of on the border of what a lot of Koreans call 'some' relationships now. No commitments have been made, no promises given, but there's implied interest on both sides. Not to mention most of the actual romantic development has been between Min Ik and fake Veronica, the almost kiss with Gal Hee was promptly halted by Min Ik, and Gal Hee has attempted to end things with Min Ik as Veronica three times. It's complicated and the boundaries aren't totally clear, but it still hasn't crossed over into cheating in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, I'm upset with Gal Hee for keeping the lie going this long and with Min Ik for not manning up and making a decision. Gal Hee owes Min Ik the truth, and Min Ik needs to come to terms with his feelings for Gal Hee. That being said, who knows what's going to happen next week. If it goes in the direction of cheating, then my frustration will become righteous anger, because I don't do cheating either, and I don't want the writers to ruin our characters like that.
Well, I was wrong. I thought, after the last couple weeks of episodes, that there was a real chance he already knew it was her or suspected it was, but this week's eps have brought me back down to reality.
He has no clue. He has no clue, and this is all gonna blow up in Gal Hee's face. Which I guess I can accept since she's lying and should face the consequences of that lie, but boy am I disappointed that that's the route they chose to go in. Guess we all better buckle in and prepare ourselves for the ensuing angst.
ALSO HOW THE HECK HE DIDN't SEE HER FACE after they KISSED? I'm sure his BP was through the ROOF WHAT THE REAL…
I think the writers are trying to make the point that despite what he thinks he feels for Veronica, she just doesn't make him feel the way Gal Hee does, hence his blood pressure staying pretty even keel. They're unfortunately not showing this very well which is making for a confusing viewing experience.
I was PRETTY sure Min Ik knew everything since a while and is just testing Gal Hui and waiting for when she's…
For about a week or two worth of episodes, I thought there was a real chance he already knew/suspected, and then when the teasers for this week made it look like the ruse was going to finally be over, I was really excited, because I thought we'd start to see forward movement between them. But then I watched this weeks eps, and they brought me back to my original opinion that he doesn't know, and that this will probably blow up in Gal Hee's face. And I guess I can accept that since she has been lying to him, and there need to be repercussions to that, but I am really sad they decided to go this route. What a fun, interesting story it would have been if he had already known/suspected. Ah, well. Guess it's time to strap in for the angst.
Just started this today. Already halfway through the first ten eps, and I love it so far. Everyone keeps saying it's slow, but I'm really appreciating the intentionality of the gentle pacing. They're really letting the story breathe and flow and take the time it needs to say what it wants to say. If that makes it 'slow,' well then I guess I guess I like this kind of 'slow' drama.
Today's episode got me All Up In My FEELINGS. I've been mostly enjoying this drama so far. The lie has been frustrating to watch, because it always is, but I like these characters and want them together. But today. Today's episode has made me So invested in this couple, even more than I was before. I want them to happen so bad I'm practically foaming at the mouth, lol.
I know he doesn't know it's really her, and it's just my own desire for wish fulfillment driving me to believe he might, but he Has to know if only so he can be in on the joke with the rest of us as we watch her crazy antics at the sauna, lol. I mean, Come On, writers! You Know that would be a hilarious reveal later down the line.
I don't know if you've seen 15 & 16 yet but I am having the same problem as you hahah it's killing me to not know…
Watching it right now. And after discussion with another viewer, I think I've swung back to the skeptical side, lol. I Just Want Them Together Is That Too Much To Ask Drama Gods, LOL!
he obviously wasn't seeing her all this time, and I don't trust cliffhangers, so something would probably happen…
Hahaha, I know. Although you've made some really strong points that might be bringing me back around to the skeptic side, lol. I actually didn't totally understand what the writers were trying to say with the scene of him half asleep. I thought maybe he was so asleep that it interfered with his brain trying to override his heart's feelings for her, so he was able to sort of sub-consciously admit it to himself even if he couldn't consciously admit it. I didn't realize till your comment that he probably thought he was seeing Veronica until he woke up and realized it was Gal Hee, and he didn't put two and two together afterward. I do think it's still possible for him to already know just because I'm a writer, so I've already come up with a variety of ways that it could work in the story, but you're probably right and he most likely doesn't. I don't foresee there being too massive of a fallout from him finding out though, just because this drama has been such a breezy watch so far, and I don't get the feeling the writers are looking to create drama for the sake of drama, but I think there will be some tears. And truthfully, if they can navigate it in a way where Gal Hee can show genuine remorse for lying without it being about Do Min Ik whining about being betrayed, then I'm okay with it. Cause she did lie. And in my perfect drama, she would have admitted to it already.
he obviously wasn't seeing her all this time, and I don't trust cliffhangers, so something would probably happen…
I guess what makes it seem more possible to me now is seeing the direction Korean dramas have been moving the last few years. More realistic storylines, deviating from the usual cliché's, turning things on their head, more variety of character types. Obviously, this drama is going for more of the old school style, but it's still very modern in some ways. The female lead isn't a complete pushover. The male lead isn't a massive asshole. The actual drama of the drama is really quite tame and manageable. All of this makes me think the writers could very easily pull the 'he already knows' twist as it would fit into the overall framework of the story. And I'm saying this after having spent the entire drama, up until last nights ep, believing he Doesn't already know and he won't know until the whole thing blows up in their faces. But last night's ep really did make it seem like it could happen. I guess my heart is just stronger than my head in these matters, lol.

I was thinking more along the lines that he's known/suspected it was her for awhile, and that's why he wants to be able to see her face while she's pretending to be Veronica so badly.
I think that's still possible, but I am prepared for the opposite to happen. Although I will probably still be disappointed if it does.

I honestly didn't even think about his heart rate dropping before seeing her face, but now that you've said it, that seems like the most likely thing to happen. Guess I'm back to tempering my expectations, lol.
I was fully on board for that kiss though. I didn't see it as being wrong for him to kiss her seeing as as far as he knows, 'Veronica' doesn't want to date him.
