I didn't like it. In fact, it left me feeling almost dirty, like there's a bad taste in my mouth I can't get rid…
Do you think approaching the drama as a story about a terrible person and a woman who loved him when she shouldn't and it ultimately changed her for the worse would make it an easier watch, at least in terms of not becoming too invested in wanting to see the characters grow and become better?
>_> there's a love triangle in every romantic kdrama
Especially in older K dramas. We're seeing fewer K dramas utilizing love triangles now though. They've started to move away from that trope a bit. This one also serves a very important purpose in the overall story instead of just being a lazy way of creating conflict.
SPOILER QUESTION!Am a bit confused, was Pretty Oh Hae Yeong in a relationship with someone besides Do Kyong after…
Your comment is from two months ago, so you've probably figured it out by now, but here's your answer just in case you haven't. I don't remember the conversation you are talking about or what she said, but she didn't date anyone after she disappeared.
When do the characters stop acting so crazy? I finished ep 1 and the yelling is hurting my brain and ears.
I don't remember there being an abnormal amount of yelling in this drama? Some of it is just how characters tend to express themselves in Korean dramas.
Contrary to most of the comments here, I actually really adore Je Ha and Anna.
That's the pairing I'm going into this drama wanting, myself, so I'm confused by the response to it. I get people are tired of these kinds of female leads, and they found Yoo Jin really compelling, but can't all our favorite female leads just co-exist with each other?
So I started this drama back when it first aired, but something came along to distract me, and I ended up putting it on hold after 4 or so episodes. Not because I disliked it, because there were a lot of good things about it, but I think it just wasn't hitting my sweet spot at the time. I've decided to come back and watch it, and man, I regret not watching it while it was airing. (Still in the first four eps of this viewing, so that could obviously change.) Something I didn't understand when I first tried watching this drama, though, and that I still don't understand now that I've picked it back up, is all the hate for the character of Anna. People think she's flat, useless, boring. They don't like the romance between her and Jae Ha. They don't like puppy-love, they want sizzling passion. Everyone and their grandmother apparently wanted the male lead to end up with the villain. (Which I refuse to even entertain in my head, because the two of them are so different from each other in my mind. Both morally ambiguous, sure. But Jae Ha is clearly firmly planted closer to the side of good and truth while Yoo Jin is the total opposite, and I have no desire to see the good in him become corrupted.) Obviously, I understand that everyone's preferences are different, and a lot of drama viewers are tired of seeing female leads like Anna. They found Yoo Jin a compelling character and liked the idea of these two morally ambiguous, but still different in fundamental ways, people interacting with each other and affecting each other. But I feel like the community's anxious desire for 'strong female leads' (which what does that even mean really?) has made everyone hyper critical of any female leads they think don't fit this trope (and yes, 'strong female lead' is a trope, a stereotype, sometimes a very boring one). Obviously, I'm only four eps into this viewing, and things could change, but I like Anna. I like, and appreciate, innocent characters who are good and kind and thoughtful. I empathize with them and what they've been through, what they go through. I relate to them more than I do a lot of 'strong female leads.' (Not to say I don't Like strong female leads, because there are many I love.) And I like the pairing between her and Jae Ha. I like sweet, thoughtful, innocent romance. It's what I wish for myself. So I just don't understand. Why do we have to hate on innocence? Why is a woman who's been misused and mistreated and then responds to that mistreatment in ways that are actually pretty psychologically realistic something to be miffed about? We're seeing more and more 'strong female leads,' many of which are very well-written and interesting. Why can't Anna exist alongside them? Isn't there room for both?
Can someone let me know the ending? Like does FL have a happy ending as her normal self or as her “perfect”…
I wouldn't consider it a happy ending seeing as it's not fulfilling at all, but she does end the series as herself and not her alter ego. They do a time jump, and she gains 'confidence' or whatever, then they leave it open ended about whether she ends up with the male lead or not. If you do watch to the end, I suggest watching the first half of the finale ep and making up your own ending after that, because you could probably write a better ending then they did. And I say watch the first half, because it honestly has more story development and deep exploration of the drama's themes than the rest of the drama combined (minus the first couple of eps). Or just don't bother watching the rest of this drama, cause it's hot garbage, lol.
