novel readers how is the novel? ik it hard to decide from just a few episodes, but is the novel is abit different?…
tbh I tried so hard to get through the novel but the writing was too bland for me. Maybe it gets better later but the progression was too slow so I dropped it pretty early. It might be different in others eyes though.
The drama so far is wayyy more fun and interesting - the pace is faster and they have made the characters more interesting imo.
The FL in the novel was so frustrating to me because she was lovestruck a lot and it was pretty aggravating to hear how she crushed on the ML every second page. Like, yeah, we get it, you think he's hot. We know you want to play the game to gawk over him again - I don't need to hear about it 26 times. Her personality was basically all about swooning over ML in the beginning and it gets boring when there's basically nothing else she thinks about.
I tried so hard to like it because I wanted to finish the novel before watching the drama but I just could get past the slow progression.

i'm a little confused about the plot even after watching the trailers... can someone explain it to me 😅
FL is dragged by her friend to try something new after being ditched by her finace. It's a murder mystery VR game - that's where you see the parts of them wearing the various costumes because they are characters in a VR game.
One thing that helps is the Chinese name means filming multiple projects at once. So you will be seeing 2 plots happening.
1. Initially we start with the murder mystery in the VR world - this is where she falls in love with an NPC (ML). I think at first she thinks he's just an NPC but later finds out that he's an actual person - not 100% sure.
2. The other side is the leads encountering each other in reality and exploring their relationship outside the game. She turns out to be his landlord, he turns out to be her new boss.
So these 2 worlds/plots happening at once - VR game vs Reality.
Actually disgusted that casting and production would pair a 17 year old minor with a man over 10 years her age. What are they thinking? I'm hoping they don't push the romance too much at least.
Nothing against the leads, I like them both and I don't think it's Neo's fault since he signed on before they confirmed the female lead. But, I don't think I can get behind this drama nor should this kind of thing be normalized or explained away.
I don't think LYX will be able to attend since she will be busy filming.
I think they both confirmed in separate interview videos that they would see fans at weibo conference. Don't know if they will be together though or be with their new drama partners.
Hou Minghao did say in interview if he were to collaborate with Lu Yuxiao again to play a “biker boy and soft…
It's pretty funny he cites that because that kind of describes one of the times they encountered each other irl before knowing each other. He was riding his motorbike to work encountered LYX in the elevator.
Yes, I had the same thought. If I understand correctly, the source book wasn’t great, so writers had to do quite…
Overall, I'm very happy with how it ended since it's rare to get such a satisfying ending for c-drama leads and side characters so I'm able to overlook it haha

It's not to do with the novel as that follows different events.
Novel doesn't even have any of the plot point with evil Situ / Netherbeasts / Swallowing Array so there was not really anything to improve upon as these were all additional plots the drama originally created.
Maybe they wanted to keep the theme of Mingyi's merciful character but failed to properly tie it together, possibly due to lack of time. They were a month behind schedule because the original director took too long to film and they had to replace her to get the filming done.

Drama is much better imo

Lu Yuxiao and Cheng Xi Xu - I love beautiful leads! 😍

Does that help?
