HG/GMD is not something that anyone "needs" and people will be fine without it.

It might be easier to understand if you go from the point of view that she will always prioritize her goal of returning and completing her duty of being champion for her nation because that was what she was molded to be.
Regardless of whether she unintentionally falls in love, or if someone deeply loves her, her goal remains the same. This may change later but that has been a very consistent basis of her character and motivations so far. Revealing her identity may effect and ruin those plans especially considering her true identity could get her killed if leaked as she is in an enemy nation in her most weakened state.
