He was never bothered by her unrequited love but after he discovers the identity of the guy she is in love with and Xiao Ju won't stop chasing Cheng Lang, he knows there is a possibility things does not go his way. Because he liked her. Cheng Lang was too infatuated to the other girl. So he only had to protect her from being hurt. But when the other girl left Cheng Lang, Xiao Ju would not send him any positive sign anyway. And he did not need to protect her anymore. So he left and he even left sooner after he "caught them together" = she does not like him.
wow when u killed 36 eps by the ending just like that its way far from slow burn romance its just slow romance…
Happy ending here but the writer mismanaged the ending. Using two episodes to bring them together was too short and it was rushed, cranky and lacklustre. Basically he comes back, pisses her off, she is angry, gets drunk, sleeps with him and then accepts his proposal. Cringe.
I wish they used more time to properly wrap the drama and not leave so many loose ends. An ending like the novel would have been upsetting but this ending is not really satisfactory for me.
There's also one thing I can't forget about that drama is that " Finally the interesting, playful, yet charming, funny,…
I liked his character. The girl showed him multiple times how much she was in love with the other guy and she was trying hard to hook him up. Still he always sticked to his feelings and tried his best to be here for her to support her, distract her, make her laugh and he was content with the moments he had with her. When she ignored his confession, he was not disheartened and he did not leave her side. He is such a patient guy in Love he knew he would come back for her. Handsome like he is, he could have found plenty of girlfriends and he should have. Because it is quite sad to spend 5 to 7 years as a student and never have a gf or bf on your side. lol. Good guy.
She aborts their child and will never be able to have kids.
To loose a child is already a tragedy in itself. They can still make their bank analogy with it. But to make her definitively unable to have kids just to tell that it doesn't matter for Yi Zhi when Huang Ruhong had a wife who was (alledgely) unable to have kids and it bothered him so much. That's some rotten thing to think about and write.
They probably wanted to pass a "tolerant" message about having kids for a couple but that's anachronism. Probably in 1930, the guy would marry another wife or find a mistress to bear a child for him.
It changes the way I see their ending now because they lost the bank to a new manager. So they have no bank and no kid now. OK, they can always adopt one.

Ok, it probably makes sense. But how can you compare your love for your company with the love for your child. I don't really like this analogy with the bank. It is a little bit too much.
I really think that Seo Soo Yeon is the rat of the organization
She is too low level to be the leader of the rats. She could not order agents to go kill the agent infiltrated in the drug ring in China. The fact that she is out of the picture for now means people bigger than her are pulling the strings.
Why they have to repeat the same things to plenty of people, things that we already knows since the ep.1. But at least, the rivalry is going to the next stage.
They live in times of changes and turmoils and the story pans over several decades. So there is romance but it is not the cute fluffy romance. It is romance mixed with others feelings brought by these times : misunderstanding, hatred, duty, betrayal, loss, loyalty... The romance is good overall but it goes throught many challenges.
I don't think this drama have any romance in it. But however i want a little spark between ji hyuk and je yi but…
There are couples or potential couple or references to former couples in a realistic down to earth way, there is not much romantic moments. I doubt there will be any romance. But it's still entertaining.
The drama was good overall with good pace, very cute and funny moments but the end is quite wrong. How can he treat her like that at the seashore? What happened to the bracelet? How come he made a proposal during the wedding of the friends and in front of plenty of people. That's something cringey to do when you meet again after several years and your few encounters ended badly. And also, did he anticipated to sleep with her the previous night? Very rushed and disappointig ending
