No chance she goes on a date with HJP. She is not so fickle. If she goes back and forth between the two, I will rate this 0.5 overall. I'll go for option 1 but excluding the "right away".

Keep your facts right.

- When they play go stop and HJP smiles. It is not because of the souvenir of him copying the wish from the TV. It is because SDM talked about the fact that depending of the persons, this wish can be actually special or very trivial if they used to do it or never had the chance to do it. He smiles because she is so understanding she can picture these different possibilites and he can relate to one. But it absolutely does not mean that 15 years ago, that wish was his when he wrote it. To assume it based on his smile when playing go stop is a strech. He wrote it 15 years ago because it was on TV. He could not have wished he wanted to play Go stop with his family because he had no family to start with. It's like You saying you wish to win the marathon when you have no legs anymore.

- "writing and reading it by himself." NO, not AND: OR. They show him writing one letter the one in which he copies the idea from the TV and twice he receives a letter and looks annoyed the first time and looks up wondering the second time.

- I see you read my previous comment. HJP did not explained to NDS why it meant something to SDM to make a wish in front of a rainbow. He just said to NDS "Can you understand written korean language? If not what am I going to do with you?". Because NDS could not understand the figure of speech used by that girl.

- HJP is not in denial. He is a perfectly written character with his qualities and flaws and very consistent in his attitude, behavior and reactions. It is the ones with Second Lead Syndrome who are in denial of who he really is. But ok, you enjoy it the way you like it.

You have acute SLS syndrome... need a cure or the final outcome will be hard to take.

Like I said to you, it is too bad to not understand the intention of the writer, director and actors just because you understand the events of the drama in a way to fit your own wishes... HJP never liked or cared about SDM during their youth. You trying to build you own drama of "childhood lovebirds meet again 15 years later" is your own miss. But ok, eveyone enjoys it his own way.

Now that the truth about the letters and fake NDS are about to be revealed, I am reflecting about one thing. Why 15 years? Why the lie is lasting 15 years? I mean, if grandma made Ji Pyeong write a few letters and he wrote the rest on his own pouring his heart and his feelings... She could have told Dal Mi some time later. Why 15 years with Dal Mi reminding Grandma about how great her Do San from the letters is and she never told her anything?

She could have told her: "I asked him to be you penfriend under another name and I gave him some hints at the beginning because he did not know where to start". And later she could have said "He went to Seoul for his studies but one day if you both were sincere about your friendship you both will surely meet again. His real name is HJP". Why not? That way, if SDM and HJP meet again they only have to rekindle their past natural complicity and friendship and tell each other about the good old time and read the letters together and laugh and explain to each other why they wrote this or that...

Why not? Why15 years of lies?

The only plausible reason is that all the letters are just full of lies that HJP cannot take as his own and Grandma cannot afford Dal Mi to know that they are hers.

You said yourself "eventually" but that's your assumption only. You said "I am guessing" well it is just your guess. You said he was excited to read the letter. I don't see him excited at all like Dal Mi was giggling and opened the letter immediately. He sat down and read the letter and looked up. Why he did not ran home to reply?

You are right we have our own understanding of things based on our own experience and logic but still a cat should be a cat.

I don't understand why some people say these letters mean something to him when he said himself he and Grandma wrote them together and they made up fake NDS together and he will not take responsibility neither for these letters nor for the fact that these letters made Dal Mi have so high standards about men she rejected all the idiots who tried to woo her.

HJP considered these letters a chore and called them "stupid".

He found "stupid" the idea of making him write letters that he did not thought and bred in his mind and in his heart. He did not allways fully understand what they meant, he still had to write the words. The letters were never important for him. We never see him reflect on them like Dal Mi does.

You don't know what was writen in the letter still you call them genuine words. The only times we know about the content is when he copies an idea from the TV or when tells about his fake dog he never had and say he lost it so he can understand her after she lost her sister. Is that what something genuine?

He was never happy to receive the letters. Never a bright smile like Dal Mi when she received a letter. The only two times we see him receiving them, first time he exhales, looks annoyed and walks. The second time he look up the sky wondering if something will happen and a terrible spring is starting to happen.

I don't get where you saw the fake NDS is rich and wise. We only thing we know is that he is too mature for his age. This is why Dal Mi's father knew right away that the words were Grandma's. And yes, fake NDS had a warm and comforting side. Everything NDS from STT has and HJP does not have. :-P

No HJP is absolutely not the usual tsundere male character harsh with his words but caring in his heart. HJP never had a warm side and he still does not have one. He is a cold loner in disguised of a friendly self made man. He did not write that wish from the TV because he was kind. He did not called these letters stupid but in reality he loves them.

He called these letters "stupid". Not because the content was stupid. If the content was stupid, how Dal Mi found them so comforting and cherished them for so long? HJP called them stupid not because of the content but because of the manner. He found "stupid" the idea of making him write letters that he did not thought and bred in his mind and in his heart. He did not allways fully understand what they meant, he still had to write the sequence of words. This is why he called them stupid and saw them as a chore.

You are entitled to see things under your own light but I personaly think it is too bad to miss the writer's intentions and waste the effort of the actors to portay characters and tell a story that they wish you to understand. The beauty of HJP's character is in the tragedy of his fate.

- HJP's motive is allways Grandma. Because she asked him to lie again and now he is trying to protect her. He does this to repay his debt to her. Grandma is the most important person for him.

- Grandma's motive is to protect herself. She does not want Dal Mi to know that she wrote all these letters. These letters have been everything for Dal Mi. She built herself on them for 15 years. But they were all fabricated by Grandma. She knows Dal Mi would be terribly sad and disappointed by her Grandma.

- Do San's motive was he did not want Dal Mi to know the truth because she would be hurt as some people deceived her for 15 years. Now he loves her sincerely and he doesn't want to be loved because he is the fake NDS. So He would prefer to stop the lies and the truth to be told. Basically he is torn between "She will be hurt" and "I want a true Love". He is stalling.

HJP and Grandma lied only because they intented to make someone happy? The road to hell is sure paved with good intentions...

NDS is head over heels for Dal Mi. He knows the happiness he has now might be fake. He could loose the person he loves and be terribly hurt. Dal Mi would be hurt knowing that all these letters were fake and all the feelings, comfort, joy, hopes which helped her to build herself during 15 years were based on a lie.

HJP and Grandma are the original liars but they have nothing to loose. Even if they lied, disappointed and hurt others. They can just say: "Sorry, I did it for your happiness".

But ok, you can put them on a pedestal and say Do San is the bad apple. Everyone is entitled to his own oponion.

I feel sorry for him. He deserves to have Love and a family for himself. But fate is playing a huge prank on him.

Grandma gave the chocolates. He was barely the box they were in.

No it is not shown that HJP eventually wrote these letters on his own. It is just shown once that he wrote a letter alone and he had no idea of what to write so he copied an idea he heard on the TV. That scene just shows he did not pour himself in the letters. What you say about afterwards is you own imagination. HJP accused grandmother of luring him into writing these "stupid" letters. Later he himself said he and grandma wrote the letters together.

You should ask yourself why Grandma asked HJP to lend her his handwriting. Why She did not ask him to write by himself. Why she did not ask him to meet Dal Mi and become a real supporting friend in her life to eat together at her store like she used to with In Jae. Why she never invited Dal Mi so that they can meet and become real friend.

Why the usurpation? Because Grandma just wanted a fake penfriend whose letters would be only what she put in them. This is why she never told the truth to Dal Mi for 15 years. If she asked HJP to write one letter or two and he did the rest by himself, she would not need to keep the lie. She is keeping the lie because she is the fake NDS who used HJP's writing.

Of course the lie gained them something or else why they would do it?

- The lie gained grandma the personal satisfaction and pleasure of "helping" her grand daughter go through a difficult time using lies which will backfire sooner or later. She gained also the gratitude of her son who knew right away the letters were her and went to thank her for helping his daughter.

- The lie gained HJP what he wanted : to repay Grandma for letting him live in her shop and for being so good to him when he was just an orphan not related to her.

The lie did not gain NDS the girl of his dream. On the contrary. The more the lies deepen the most he is afraid of the outcome. That she will admit that he is not the one she really loves and she will dump him. He has not gained anything yet. He is just more at risk.

But I agree with you, Dal Mi is more and more into the real Do San not because of the lie but despite the lie. She said it herself to Grandma.

Aren't you making things up? Ji Pyeong did not lie about his birthday because he had no reason to lie. Not because he cared to say the truth. He copied the idea of his birthday wish from the TV because he had no idea by himself. Not because he heard it on the TV and suddenly realized it was his deepest wish. The fake letters were a chore for Ji Pyeong who called them "stupid" and he never accepted responsibility for them as he considers he and grandma wrote these letters and made up fake Do San together.

I think the writer is going a great job. He is writing a very human, complex and consistent HJP with his flaws and qualities. He is depicting a great little Buddha who is a nerd but also a warm person. Truth is HJP and NDS are two very different characters. HJP has a mind and personality which is taks oriented. NDS has a mind and personality more people oriented. This way people can identify themselves easily to one or the other. And that's good. The fact that some are at others' throat is because they are rewriting the drama to fit their wishes to the point they are not rational anymore.

But In Jae's step father was right. That's no negociation. Dal Mi blackmailed him. lol.
