This is so bad ._. I'm speechless. Nothing really happens! WTF? X_X and why is everything about Jaejoong? Don't…
I also wish the creators had not named this 'Triangle' and stated it has 3-5 leads, if it was going to be mostly about one character. It's their creative decision and it's not something they deserve criticism for, but they do need to be criticized for not making it clear in their earlier promotion, since that is fooling audiences into entering a work for things they don't deliver on.
Unless the other two will be given the time of day soon. Not to mention the women. Shin Hye is a non-character at the moment. So far, the youngest brother has barely been given any attention and most of it is about the girl he's after, not about the other, more important things in his life.
I have personally given up on the original idea, as a viewer. This work has everything riding on Jae Joong and his character will continue to be the focus. It's more 'Line' than 'Triangle'. I just wish they had been more honest about that and clearly stated it before this started, rather than avoiding the issue.
I have some question that may sound weird - is jaejoong the male lead here? or is it lee beum soo? it seems to…
In the original novel, the character currently shaped into Yeong Dal was the main one. With 'Triangle', the idea was to have three male leads, at least that is what the production said most of the time before this started.
However, Jae Joong's popularity and marketability are much higher to that of Lee's in the markets where they want this to do well, so his character is getting more screen time and almost the entirety of the promotional efforts (stills, videos etc). The original casting had Song Seung Heon, so that seemed like the idea all along. To get a popular lead.
The good thing here is, Jae Joong's acting improved considerably since his last work and he is definitely better than Song, so him being the more focused on lead does not in any way harm the work. In fact, 'Triangle''s flaws (it has plenty) have nothing to do with him. He is doing well and Yeong Dal is a promising character.
That said, I do wish they would focus on the brothers and their interactions more than the romantic lines, since the descriptions of this before it came out promoted exactly that. And as fun as Yeong Dal is, I hope all brothers are equally focused on, actor popularity aside.
wait a second...is it just me and my undying love for JJ or has his acting gotten much better?"
Considering I don't have said undying love and am not even a fan in general, I'd say it's not the undying love, since I agree that he has gotten better. I've seen most of his major works and this is a great improvement so far.
Just curious why they covered up Jaejoong's tattoos.
That too, but from what I hear, there are many there, so given he is a lead, they would have blurred most anyway. They only show a bit more for antagonists and such and are usually careful with how much they reveal then too. They even colored in the black and white butterfly here, probably to make it less "menacing" or something. Because a black ink butterfly is oh so menacing.
The recommendations confuse me. Not just here, but in general, when done so early. Just like giving the series…
I don't think a "feel" is good enough reason to think people will like it, though. Only 2 episodes are out. 2. We have no idea how this will go. For all we know, it could turn more into an action series, makjang melodrama or even unintentional 'Dr.Jin'-like comedy. Unless they are time-travelers or psychic, they can't possibly know what a complete work will feel like at the moment.
It's good that they're trying to help, but they could also be doing more harm than good, when this help is uninformed and rushed.
Just curious why they covered up Jaejoong's tattoos.
To add to heathermichelle1983's post, there is also the KCC and its censorship. I think a small butterfly tattoo is not deemed "unethical" as much as other pictures.
For example, if you look at 'Heartless City', the main character's entire back was blurred, since he was a gangster with a full-back tattoo.
Censorship in Korean dramas is highly illogical and hypocritical. Hot shower scenes are fine, they bring in ratings, but adults kissing is indecent. Showing rape, incest, emotional abuse, physical abuse etc is fine, but showing a knife blade is indecent.Showing heavy drinking and romanticizing it (wanna find true love in dramas? drink your heart out and puke on them) is fine, but smoking is oh so indecent.
So that is why you see a lot of blurring (aside failed ppl deals) and some very unrealistically portrayed things or other things missing.
The recommendations confuse me. Not just here, but in general, when done so early. Just like giving the series a score. When the drama has not even gotten to the midpoint, how can people know what it is similar to or what rating it deserves?
Just because of an actor, creator or premise? Is that enough to say the same people who liked those will like this? Or rate the series as awesome because of it? If you want to be helpful, why not wait and have an accurate image of the series before deciding what it is similar to and what kind of a score it deserves? Good intentions are great, but they need good implementation too. This would just confuse people later on, if these predictions (what they are at the moment) prove false.
Also, minor correction. 'Giant' did not have three brothers. It had three siblings. The youngest was a girl.
Yes, because some people automatically find everything awesome when their "oppar/unnir" is in it, even though it does not yet exist. Or then we have time travelers, which is kinda cool.
Great run for most of it, but the usual Korean drama writer lobotomy towards the final act, the loss of focus on what was important (OTP, family) and the sudden turn towards the conservative harmed this series badly. It would have been magnificent. Now it's just good.
And honestly, I'm sick of the age thing, not to mention the double standards about it (it seems very liked when pretty young men are the leads). People of different ages, body types, races etc. date. It's life. Accept it or don't accept it, but to call your own issues with a topic a flaw of the series is pretty hypocritical.
Thankfully, this series opened a few eyes to the fact that attraction and even chemistry do not depend on visual and status compatibility. Then again, some eyes will always be welded shut.
I really enjoyed this drama, then the dead wife turned up. Then things went downhill and this turned into the…
Agreed. They gave the antagonist a happy ending and no consequences for her actions and they ruined the main family we had come to know and love. No happy ending for Yool, Da Jeong and the kids. Not one we will get to see anyway. Unfortunately, they conformed to the conservative pressures of their culture and the ones who run the industry.
YSY is not the most handsome guy I've ever seen but I wonder what they have done to that cute guy from 'flower…
I actually hated his character (Enrique) and looks there. He looks handsome to me here. And I like his acting here more as well.
In Ho, as a person/character, I do not like much. Well, he's a sad misguided man who made some bad decisions he is somehow trying to correct now, but he is not the most interesting character in this.
But Yoon Si Yoon and his portrayal of him, I like. That is why I always use the actor's name for the actor and character's name for the character. It's mighty confusing otherwise. I never know who dislikes the actor or who dislikes the character.
Finally an episode (ep 11) without any Subway's advertisement :P
Birth secrets, dead wives returning, incest, amnesia, all the silly soap opera elements dramas use to keep audiences watching and bring in draaama. All dramas use them, just not in the same way and as many. This is pretty toned down on the makjang.
me don't like that the ajumma is back !! why did In Ho had to go and get her back !! is he that desperate to get…
I've been replying to random people all over the place. XD The system needs some fixing. And yes, pregnancy would cause chaos, but they seem to have enough of it already. Bwahaha.
me don't like that the ajumma is back !! why did In Ho had to go and get her back !! is he that desperate to get…
I'm going to go against that and say children should be had because the couple wants to. Not as excuses to be together or forced into a story for the same reason. They are human lives, not leverage. I'd hate it if they went there. Thankfully, I don't see it happening.
But Na Young has to say her bye byes and go, that we can agree on.
Woah, what was that on episodes 12 and 13? Da Jung's confession didn't convince me at all.
Looked pretty natural to me, but it was toned down by drama standards. Kdrama over-dramatizes these things. It's not how people do them in real life. They are not always grand or fairytale-like.
Unless the other two will be given the time of day soon. Not to mention the women. Shin Hye is a non-character at the moment. So far, the youngest brother has barely been given any attention and most of it is about the girl he's after, not about the other, more important things in his life.
