Two things about this film:

1) the lead is BEAUTIFUL. The picture above does no justice to how she appears in this - every shot she has pristine hair, make-up and a body to kill for!
If I was a fan-boy, I'd say she's now my "waifu". Luckily, I admired her as a work of art and don't obsess.

2) the film is BORING. It starts out nicely - very stylish - and where I don't mind a slower pace if the story's worth it, this one isn't. Throw in some pretty trashy action sequences and it's difficult to hold the attention.
I paused this around the hour mark to do something... and then couldn't find the motivation to sit through the next 20 minutes (it's over 2 hours).
Perhaps I'll watch the end tomorrow... but maybe not? It's uninspiring and I have better things to do.

You're asking me if I've "ever heard of journalism?", yet you clearly missed the tone of the interview... which very likely catered for its readers.

I think you're trying to have a pissing competition for no reason - the interviewer went in with an angle of attack, believing that such was what the majority of readers would want to know.

There's no pleasing everybody; I just hope that the interviewer was satisfied with her results... I know that it made an interesting read for many.

Well, "Claire", maybe she's been asked those basic questions SOOOO MANY TIMES that the interviewers went for something else... something that would make gossip-loving teenage girls who dream about those kinds of dudes, want to read yet another interview of hers?

Or, they could've asked about her hobbies, influences and all the kinds of things she likely already has listed on her numerous fansites.

I remember reading how the YAKUZA dispatched helicopters and aid... while the government sat on its collective butt (probably wondering how the repair costs would affect their pay raises).

This was definitely a film aimed at Japanese audiences - with anyone else watching being a bonus - but I'm pretty sure that most who followed world news at the time could get the gist of where all the jabs were aimed.

As I wrote above: it's a completely different film! Try not to compare the two and you'll be more open to enjoying it.

Anyway, I 100% disagree. If you think ML was "supposed to die", you completely missed the whole point of the film!
This film is about hope after devastation, about finding the will to go on - NOT about throwing one's life away!

Dude, Godzilla -1 is AMAZING!

I mean: I really liked this film, but this kind of broke the mould of what a monster film should be, so I appreciate how it was hit-and-miss with viewers, but instead of trying yet again to reinvent the genre, -1 embraces it... and kicks arse!

I respect your opinion - and, indeed, I can see why you made it - but this was never a film made for non-Japanese... it just carried over to us all because it's Godzilla.
Personally, I preferred the drama of watching the "people talking in boardrooms" to to the idea of an extra 10% of a giant monster smashing shit up!

Hollywood should certainly learn from this!

This was damn good though - very, very fast-paced (truly, a nightmare to keep up with the subs though).

I can't understand why people would contest this FACT.

Well, I had other things to take care of, so I had to put it off, but I've just finished the film... and it's okay.
I heard that the comics are pretty ultra-violent and realistic, so I was surprised that this set a comical kind of tone for the violence (but at least did so from the offset).
Actually, since I hate realistic violence in films, I was glad... but also a bit disappointed. I'm not sure what I wanted, but the almost slapstick take on gang fights wasn't it.

Overall, it was a decent enough film but it's never going to be anybody's new favourite.

I'm just glad this is supposed to be completely different from the comics, because I've had the title bookmarked years already and never gotten around to starting it!

I can devote 2 hours to this kind of OTT feature pretty much any evening I happen to have 2 hours free and I'm in the mood for a film.
I might just watch it now...

I LOVE THIS!
I pretty much despise (anti) social media and the amount of egotistical, obnoxious fakers it spawns. The fact that some people earn money from being pretentious and unreal, whilst selling the "ideal life" to others - thus making them discontent with their own lives - makes me seethe.

So, yeah, when she finds her character to be "detestable", she's won a fan!

I read all the manga of this game/genre... (I quickly looked it up and it's called, JINRU GAME)
These comics could get insanely dark, so be warned! But the overall premise was solid and I recall noticing a couple of Japanese films made based on subject, since it's an actual game.
