Anyway I think you might be confusing hypocrisy with irony but as I said go look it up. Sex scenes have their place in movies dramas to some degree but the scenes from the handmaiden are not movie scenes they are porn movie sceneprobably why they are featured on every porn site going you won't see any of the scenes from the Glory there.

Mr Sunshine dropped because of ML being so old it made the romance and hence the drama totally unenjoyable for me also he's a jerk IRL so doubled my sense of frustration and 2 and 3 ML syndrome. Nothing to do with KTR.

The Handmaiden thought it waz a mish mash of weird male potn fantasies and sleazy fetishes dressed up as art. Again nothing to with KTRvI really don't like her co star in this for what she did IRL. KTR Looks absolutely beautiful in it but it's just IMO pathetically gratuitous.

2521 didn't like the initial college guy and high-school girl romance thing (nothing happened blah blah but we all know where he was heading) so I was never gonna be on the hype train for that one but the end game was just so badly done i hate watched and guffawed through it il just was so uninformative unsatisfying and clearly just wanted not to be the same, again nothing to do with KTR who was a really nice character in it.

I do find her story interesting I find it a bit less hooray than a lot of people seem to. They seem to give credit to the Handmaiden for being her big break etc etc. To me it's like such an obviously good actress having to do basically a porno to get attention at age 26 was a bit depressing but that's just me and just one way of looking at it. She's beautiful and a goid actress I'm just waiting for her to be in a good drama hence I wondered what this was about probably not my bag. So if I'm vocal on some of her works you'll see it's rarely about her. But if you read the comments on this it's other not me obsessed with her and typecasting her as a lesbian not me. I might watch the space sweepers one I like Sci fi but I heard it's crap.

Yes she showed her love but it felt too much like it was part of an annoying love triangle where FL can't decide rather than a 2nd chance romance it was supposed to be IMO.

Yes that's fair but it felt like her attitude toward 2ML undermined her character and just seemed to hint no actualky more than hint she had lingering feelings and that moreso than natural reticence was impacting her committing to ML. I mean it was the scenes where she was looking at him and the gooey music it wasn't by accident, I found it off-putting and hard to ignore, yes you could see her feelings for ML but you could also see a reluctance to let go of 2ML right up to the fina stages just unneccessary and made it less enjoyable, I think when a lot of people see the same thing it's for a reason.

the netflix effect

well you can't ignore what's on the screen in front of you. You see enjoyable moments etc but then you are repeatedly confronted with the FLs long and longing gazes at the 2ML that continue and continue episode after episode. You did say some people would have you believe FL wants 2ml, well as per my point it seems there is a concerted effort from writer director to make you believe it too. Won't admit her love, and keeps pining after 2ML hard to ignore so much so I had to drop it.
I also struggle with finding something to watch, LYF seems like a love triangle nightmare. PR didn't seem like that but then whoop oh what is it episode 347 oh there she is looking at the 2ML again sigh.

No I disagree she spends way too long and the writers and directors spend way tool9mg focusing on the 2ML it totally ruins it and is so blatant and pointless it does seem there is some external reason for it as it does nothing for the drama

sounds awful everyone loves the FL she strings them all along torturously but won't choose. This is for the teens who fantasize about all the boys liking them I think.

I thought this was really bad but reading the comments if you are one of many who think the ML is super hot you might enjoy him making stupid faces and acting like he has a mild intellectual disability. If you like me, find that annoying AF then you will get peeved and then notice other dumb stuff like how totally doormat the FL is, how weird the 40 something yr old is chasing the 21 yr old around and the romance plot between the neighbour and the rich 2FL complete with him shitting his pants in her car (OMG) and then her farting in a restaurant and him heroically taking the blame to even things up and they had minus chemistry this and a lot of other annoying stuff means unless your a fan of the MLs appearance there are no real other reasons to watch it all. stuck with it for 12 episodes because the FL is so likeable but even she couldn't save it.

How does any of this seem slice of life or realiztic. His 10 yr unrequited love and associated anguish is still there as he again ends up away from her after being used again and dumped again . Her the apparent career woman is left with no ambition and a dead child. Do you really think people like these are typical. The FL in a serious relationship immediately emotionally cheats with the very first guy who says he likes her. The 2ML pursues her openly in front of ML despite her being in a relationship and barely knowing her and she lets it happen, she encourages it she is awful in this period. She then breaks up with ML but claims its not because of "this guy" the guy she cheats with, but!!!!!!! then immediately (like literally immediately) goes and has this guys baby and MARRIES him FFS. Despite her being too ambitious for the poor MLShe is happy to be a housewife and part time worker for 2ML. This poor child then dies tragically and yep of course she then breaks up with the guy. She then returns to the ML and disrupts his life (she doesnt know or care he is not really in love with 2FL she just has to have his help ) but then of course rejects him again once he's helped her.
I get what your saying about blah blah Happy Ever After stories being unrealistic or common but why is this stuff any more realistic. Its just the other end of the spectrum. Your take is okay except basically your saying anyone who doesnt like it just isnt in the right frame of mind and doesnt have enough life experience pretty patronising.
Happy Ever After fairytale romance is not realistic but neither are abject cruel miserable stories like this sorry tale.
Perhaps if the big lie about ending the second "charm" (her ending the first one was also cruel (but at least somewhat understandable) not being about the doctor wasnt there and she moved on with someone else that might have made a bit more palatable.
Also including the death of a child as a mechanism to end her relationship was just distasteful and okay this happens in real life but thankfully not enough to make it relatable to most people in a way slice of life dramas are supposed to be. Also writing it this way just cemented her selfishness in seeking out the ML. As if that doesnt happen she wouldnt infiltrate and upend his life again, in reality she wouldnt care less about him because she wouldnt need him.
So we have a very odd obsessive doormat guy who cant get over his first love and a really flawed really selfish woman who walks over this doormat again and again. Realistic? Satisfying? Insightful not even a tiny bit.

Some well thought out comments but ultimately this show was really a fail. The core event of her marrying the doc not being explained or explored just totally undermined the story and the FL. In 2 conversations with her friend the writers imparted info and gave these conversations importance, one where the friend very unfairly and randomly from a story pov basically encourages FL to drop the ML and insults him a lot. After break up, the next conversation the friend says she us aware people will say she broke up because of the doctor but she knows that's not it. After this ML goes to FL work and she runs after his car and weeps when eating his food. But then when we catch up and based on the age of the daughter, we learn that immediately after break up She did resume relationship with doc married him and had a kid. So wtf. Was it just ad writing editing or was it designed to portray the FL as a terrible person. to me it just made no sense. Everything about the FL treatment of ML waz just awful from start to finish.
Thus is not slice of life or realistic it's just shitty people behaving in shitty ways. It had nostory no character development and using the death of a child as a plot device was so crass and random I really can't defend it.
