Thank you - you are the best! I did try to google the history but I didn't make the connection between using the eunuchs to balance the power of the generals. That makes so much more sense. I guess this is what happens when the early generation of emperors were themselves generals/conquerors but their descendants become essentially administrators or as in the case of tangmingwang distracted by yang guifei.
As for this drama, of course we already know what the history says happens but I can't wait to see how this emperor comes out on this old case.
