Wow... some fireworks went off while I was sleeping. That was not my favorite scene I actually had to think about. In fact my first reaction was what???? That got passed the censors??? Just my opinion but ultimately I concluded that they definitely walked the line there but didn't cross it.

I do agree with you, but you're going to see fire crackers from Xiao Zhan's fans XD
I am sure but they would equally feel the same way about Bo Wang if Xiao Zhan were playing him. It is a biased opinion, I can just shrug.

I am not knocking Xiao Zhan, I am actually pleasantly surprised by his acting. Its just the character Ji Chong is a weak one... all the way from the weak chin on down...

He keeps accusing Bo Wang of ruining Xing'er and making her focused on revenge. But actually he is the troublemaker…
Well that and the chemistry between him and Li Qin is a big yawn. I have seen more sparks fly from a wet firecracker.

Title The Wolf Spoiler
Ji Chong is a hypocrite:
He keeps accusing Bo Wang of ruining Xing'er and making her focused on revenge. But actually he is the troublemaker that exposed Bo Wang's involvement with her family's murder to begin with. And he barely investigated the facts he just rushed to judgement with purely circumstantial evidence. And given that Bo Wang actually is not guilty, he is also wrong. He keeps fanning the flames of her revenge because he wants to get her for himself. Pathetic. Ji Chong is at least equally guilty for making Xing'er full of hate. At least Bo Wang doesn't try to make excuses for his actions. Ji Chong knows turning her against Bo Wang is killing Xing'er but he doesn't care as long as he wins. Poor Xing'er, neither of these guys deserve her.

The emperor ordered Bo Wang's Night Fury warriors to kill Ma Ying's family unknown to Bo Wang. He thought his mission was just to spy on them.

More likely Bao Na's costumes are Khitan or Uyghur. They are a close neighbouring empire north of Later Liang and would probably have had some military/diplomatic cooperation.

I believe Bo Wang's Night Fury warriors did kill her family under direct orders from the emperor. The emperor however concealed that part of the plan from Bo Wang - his orders were just to keep an eye on the Ma Ying. The emperor kept him in the dark because he was afraid he Bo Wang was still attached to them. Bo Wang did however help cover up her family's murder by the emperor and frame the Jin kingdom for it.

Title The Legend of Xiao Chuo Spoiler
She marries HD in the end and he was the love of her life but she got along quite well with the emperor as well.…
Actually both YY and HD are stony faced throughout the second part of the drama. I don't think both roles were well acted. The only time she shows her heart is when she goes into war while pregnant to save HD. That was when the emperor may have realised the truth. And in 40 she basically tells him she is not unhappy he takes a concubine. Very subtle and not satisfying if you want to see YY make it obvious her feelings, she doesn't really.

...have a motive or endgame or is he just a sadistic and paranoid sociopath?
Yeah, the first thing I did when I moved back to HK is do the silk route cities. Many parts of this drama was shot around Zhongdian or Shangrila - I was there a few years ago it is still very rural and very beautiful but very high up. I got such bad altitude sickness on a horse tour there I feel bad for the cast every time I see them on horses.

Title The Wolf Spoiler
Who else hates it when the FL apparently with so much to offer starts centering her life around the man/love interest…
The character so far IMHO is not that well written. I am also quite disappointed. She refuses to grow up she just want to be Xing'er and Lang Zai forever. As you said, Bo wang has been largely truthful to her about not just being Lang Zai and that he owes his loyalty to other people not just her. The only big lie so far is that he personally killed her father and of course about his feelings for her.
