Ah ok I think you already saw the best part of Under the Power if you got that far. She is playing a much more demure character in this but it is hard to watch an actress you don't like. This is a filler drama anyway, lots of other stuff is airing you may as well catch one of those. You could try Word of Honor instead, it is the best drama I have watched this year.
It’s also code for the actors didn’t get paid much. Hopefully that changes for them going forward.
It used to be ridiculous with A-listers making RMB 200-300mm per drama, which pushed salaries up to 70 or 80pct of the production budget. But at the end of 2018 the regulators capped total actor salaries at 40pct of the budget and individual lead actors at the lesser of RMB 1mm/episode or 70pct of total actor salaries or RMB 50mm in total. I don't know how much GJ and ZZH got for this but I am quite sure that it was much less than RMB 1mm/episode.
Reluctant to watch this since we did not care for the FL actress in Under the Power and ended up dropping that.
Ah, ok... well she was much better in that IMHO but she is actually a very good actress, this was just not her best work. But may I ask when did you drop Under the Power? I really did not like her at all in the first few episodes, she was too immature and noisy. I also almost dropped it but ended up very happy I continued.

Ghost Valley was founded by Rong Changching as a place for people who are fleeing society or jianghu to escape from their misdeeds or enemies or whatever. They drink the forgetfulness potion to let go of their sadness or obsessions or inner demons so that they can start again. Somehow it devolved into an evil dog eat dog kind of place (I guess the potion doesn't really work that well) and when they started to wreak havoc on jianghu again, Ye Baiyi decided it was time to shut it down. Nobody is dead, they just conceal the prior identities and become "ghosts"".

I normally don't really care about the rating either. The actual number doesn't matter so much to me but when a drama ends really well I do expect to see it go up from where it was and not down and vice versa so I am a bit disappointed. But on the bright side it is exactly the same as the douban rating.

Wow! Some great ideas! Wang Duo and Wang An Yu idk them but I am definitely gonna check them out. I would put those two together for sure and let them duke it out about who's on top... Also love the Ethan Ruan/Mark Chao pairing!
I was personally thinking of darker characters like Liu Xue Yi (ZZS) and Ma Ke (WKS - remember his Sha Qian Mo from Journey of Flower?). And also Chang Chen (ZZS) and Chen Kun (WKS).
