ahahahha your math is entirely correct. the child should be 3, 9, 13 when they switch actors, but the drama....cast…
I just got there - totally with you. The guy looks at least 30 not 13! Its just not believable. I get it there were some intense scenes that maybe the kid-actor couldn't pull off but even an 18/19 year old actor may have been a better choice for the latest episodes. That said, I am waiting impatiently for the next episodes... I may have to cave and subscribe to WeTV instead of waiting for Youtube...

Yes, couldn't agree more. I liked L&R too but there was too many fillers and too much blood coughing.
Yeah she was ok, not the best but her chemistry with the ML was pretty good.

My opinion this is so much better than Love and Redemption.

Title Qin Dynasty Epic Spoiler
So do you expect this to be a whitewashed version or do you think we will get to see the affairs in the queen…
Ah ok... my knowledge of Chinese history is spotty depending on what I was interested in reading, I don't have much perspective on Dowager Mi. I am calling stops at 8 tonight so I will have to table my comments until I catch up, hopefully tomorrow.

Well she had an inordinate say in who becomes crown prince. If I were the emperor, I would jam my candidate down her throat, a barren empress would get absolutely no say. And she openly challenges Zhuxi in court and puts his wife and son in place when he is grown king and she is not even regent or anything. I am just amazed at her daring. I don't dislike it, its pretty cool but it challenges my previous (mis) perceptions...

Indeed... so far for me Lv Buwei is the most interesting, visionary characters. And I have a weakness for grey characters...

Yes indeed had he not poisoned himself with the supposed elixir of life mercury.... But even then there is lots of time for the actor to age with the character. I am beginning to think the second Ying Zheng should probably have continued for a few more episodes. He is also obviously older than his drama age but the actor is actually very good, he could have played the young Ying Zheng for at least a few more episodes... [Its still Friday in the US I so I am still half working while watching it makes it an incredibly slow process..., will catch up on the weekend].

It is indeed ridiculous but maybe best just to not to keep count... I just know that my personal favourite is the first one with the infinitely pull-able round cheeks... Yin Zheng did live a relatively long life so he will ultimately grow into the role... Forbearance...

Why is Hua Yang so powerful? Was it actually the case? I am impressed and skeptical at the same time...

The passive aggressive type. I've never seen this version of Lv Buwei before tbh.
Ah... that's very interesting because the Nie Yuan version you describe would give cause to the surrounding characters reacting to him as if he was some crash, brash interloper who comes from beneath them. That is not consistent with the character that is being portrayed so I did scratch my head a bit at that but dismissed it as the elite nobles are just looking down on common venal merchants. That said, while I have never seen him portrayed in anything and have no basis to compare, so far, this version broadly resonates with how I imagined him to be as I think he would have to be more a subtle manipulator to have climbed so high...

Lol, you hit it on the head. I lost sleep over this one. But concerning the portrayal of Bai Qian as cold and…
Yes of course age does that to a person but also her first love betrayed her and indirectly that whole sordid affair resulted in her beloved Mo Yuan's downfall and the death of her beloved fraternity brother. She hides for thousands of years from them because she can't face them.

What would you rate it from 1 - 10?
I am engrossed. It is a truly epic production - he is the only Chinese emperor I have read extensively on. :)
