I would say the same for Han Derang!
Well I don't think the "aging" improved Han Derang. It just makes him look sad and middle aged. But it definitely improves Mingyi.

Don't know I think just watch and see what happens... Plus its not clear that anyone has properly watched it or understands what they watched (there are no subs) so just ignore these kinds of comments for now.

Best not subscribe to either yet - so far I haven't seen it on iQiyi (international) or Tencent Video. They may have licensed the international distribution rights to Viki in which case you best subscribe to that to watch it.

All 49 episodes are out for iQiyi VIP on the domestic (Chinese) site, which I can also access with my International VIP but of course there are no subs. Only 2 episodes are out for non VIP.

I have done it before many times. Its great bc you can tell after 2x who the repeat offenders are going to be. I just unblock them after I am done watching bc there is a limit on the number of blocks. It lets you stay on the thread without getting spoiled. I hate spoilers.

Thx for the article, I will read it when I have time but what you said would certainly explain why Han Derang was willing to protect Xiao Chuo and her son like that. It is a big opportunity missed because that is the more interesting relationship and their more interesting political and military achievements all took place after Mingyi dies. I am at 30 and am finding the politics and Yansege/Huinian arc very interesting as well.

WB is by far the best drama I watched this year. Its nowhere near as traumatizing as Farewell my Concubine, which was one of my favorites as well. But it is set in turbulent times...
