Possibly... I mean I still like the show but I just don't understand why it is so hard for Chinese drama to give us a good, strong, smart woman. She doesn't have to be perfect or a genius but some of the stupidity in the recent episodes is just OTT. At this point its impossible for me to like Sifeng more he has more than proven himself so all the extra suffering just makes Xuanju look bad and I am just like WHY???

I gave up for the night and went to read a book instead but I may continue tomorrow.... I just really hate it when they make women dumb but I will get over it...

That's true but this has nothing to do with her lack of her heart but her brain. I am just hopping mad they wrote her to be so stupid. She was naive in the beginning but its kind of terrible to give her no growth just so they can torture Sifeng just a little bit more. This is an awesome powerful female character that they just couldn't resist dumbing down. I really don't like the writing the last 10~15 episodes.

They made her so stupid. Its unforgiveable.

I have to admit I am really, very sad and disappointed at Xuanju. I can't help feel she should be smarter and not so easily manipulated by her father and Haochen. She doesn't have enough faith in Sifeng.

Episodes 40~45:

I really dislike her but not as much as I dislike Linglong. They are both annoying characters with no growth. All she knows how to do is parrot how Xuanju is bad and all Linglong spouts is self pity and racism against demons. She never thinks Sifeng was her friend and risked his life to save her many times. I just wish they kill both of them off but sadly I think they will survive just to piss the crap out me. I would like this show so much more if they weren't written to be so single dimensional.

Wow this Haochen can really lie like a dog! I can't help but be reluctantly impressed.

I honestly don't know why it is such a popular c-drama trope it is like the sure fire method that is used to create angst.

I use the same phone no to register both memberships and they don't seem to have turned off my VIP access on the China site. I don't need a VPN to access the China site, it just blocks me on ATV but its most likely bc I am in HK. I can trick the ATV app to release content raw by watching a couple secs of it on my phone from the Chinese app and then accessing it from my ATV via my watch history. I believe the ATV app which still has many glitches will eventually get rolled out more broadly, iQiyi is making a huge international push...

Sigh! On ep 36 please, please tell me it ain't so....

I can access both sites with the same membership. The only difference is that I have to stream from my computer/ipad when I try to watch from the China site but I can access the international site directly from AppleTV.

I am so happy she fell for him before she realized he has been her fantasy hero all along! She looks like a sad and lonely girl that doesn't like to accept help but her expression gets subtly happier as she goes along. Its very good acting I just get a sick feeling at the pit of my stomach that this devolves into a Romeo and Juliet trope given her family's tragic end.

I totally love him too! His look is so endearing!!!

Heheh! I guess it pays to watch very slowly like my folks they catch things we may miss.... Anyway I was happy it all clicked as well... :)

Just one small follow up - my folks just finished watching this and they caught this detail that I missed:

* Note Lige goes into exile to their countryside home. It was her surprise for Pengcheng wang when they were visiting Consort Sun (around episode 50) for her birthday. She tells him she knows he is close to his foster mother so she wanted them to have a place near her. The location is where people (e.g. Consort Sun) get banished or exiled to.

It kind of closes the loop on where she went to.
