Title Joy of Life
That's terrifying. T_T Have they started to shoot season2? Looks like it has no entry here in MDL. Oh no.
Its an extra CNY 3/episode and sort of downgrades my VIP. But its not a lot and iQiyi is going to lose CNY10bn this year and probably same for Youku and Tencent. Works out to be about CNY 100/subscriber they need to get it back somewhere. I accept the price is going to go up soon the industry can't lose $4-5bn USD a year. I just wish they raise the subscription price instead of this messy annoying stuff.

Would much appreciate a heads up as to whether the ending holds up as a standalone ending. If it doesn't its going to be like Princess Agents for me - I won't watch it until I know Season 2 is being shot.

Btw I find its quite ok to watch ROP with RN - RN is so so sad ROP seems like a walk in the park....

Wow its ending already? I put this on hold to watch other airing shows - can't believe they put everything out so fast. And also because to be honest, I was really put off by the idea of 5 seasons. I love Asian drama because they just get it all out there and we are done. I really dislike the Western approach that it goes on until the ratings crash and then oops - no ending just leave it hanging out there and cut it. Never mind that viewers invested time and energy and waited year after year... Or after 8 years of endless waiting and watching stick you with a heinous GOT ending. Still debating whether to pick up where I left off on this later on. Depend on whether season 1 can just logically end right there or pick up with season 2...

Emperor is my favorite character in this show. He is a farsighted emperor. Actually, cp's life is already smoother…
The father-son relationship has eclipsed the romance so far - so well written and acted by both actors - who would have thought the emperor is stealing the show! The romance ship for me sank once it went down that heart stabbing triangle / threesome route.

Thx - I had hoped that was not the case - I am starting to get mad at CP.

I am confused as to when CP figured out it was fake news and whether it was before or after she was finished. I also am not sure whether Chen framed WX on her own initiative out of jealousy or as you said CP framed her. Halfway through 32 I realized I have to go back and rewatch 31. This plot is too intricate and many things are hard to understand on first viewing.

Dying for the next subbed ep... It's so painful watching an ongoing drama ;(
Indeed it is but I prefer to watch while airing - especially a complex plot like this. It forces you to watch slowly and figure out what happened. The fluffy ones yeah its better to wait and then binge.

My feelings completely re the story (and the hair) but the kid in me just loves action wuxia shows so I persisted and somehow around 9 or 10 I actually started to enjoy it, the story is emerging. Don't think it has the makings of a huge hit but at least its not a tragedy.

Oh no! I have heard that about ROP. I am watching it at the same time as this - I think Ning Yi is the best most fascinating male lead character I have seen ever and so deliciously portrayed! Even if its a train wreck at the end I gotta see for myself.

She intercepts a plot to cause the princess to miscarry. Realizing that they will keep trying, she colludes with the imperial physician to create fake news that the child was lost. She was framed for being the culprit (herbs found in her room) and punished for it.

Ah, I see - that would not bother me at all. I am not even that opposed to a different ending if that was what was intended from the start and the story and characters unfolds in a way that makes such ending credible.

Joy of Life is another currently airing drama that seems light and fun. You could try that its very high quality and many find it funny. The humor doesn't quite click with me so I think I will watch Sword Dynasty instead but that one is just a lot of action not humorous.

I just get irritated when they shoot different versions and then end with the crowd pleasing version (which I hear is what they want to do with this). This is not choose your own adventure. That kind of approach just risks the characters doing something stupid or completely out of character at the end. Maybe they can pull it off here but I was shaking my head when I heard about it. Lowest common denominator rarely delivers good outcomes.

There seems to be a lot of action in this and it kind of makes me think of some kind of role playing game where the players level up and power up. But I also sense there is a deeper backstory or story overall that either hasn't been fully flushed out or I somehow missed it because it was dealt with too quickly. Is that the case or is this just a good old fashioned wuxia slasher that I can watch casually on the threadmill?
