Ni Ni should get many awards for her acting she is so excellent.
What I love about Ning Yi is that he is somehow dark without being exactly evil. He is capable of compassion and has his own code of conduct, he doesn't target innocent people but he is not bothered if they suffer collateral damage either. He doesn't make excuses or try to explain his own morality either. Oh how am I going to watch anything else after this?!?
It was pretty unavoidable for the mortal arc to be repetitive although they could have put a bit more effort into fleshing it out to make it more interesting or just keep it short instead of dragging it out. But I expected this and originally planned to only watch the last few episodes of the mortal arc (anywhere from 18 onwards) and then jump into the real guts of the Pillow Book story. That would have made for a better viewing experience but since I am pretty much house bound bc of coronavirus I watched the whole thing. The next arc is where we will see original and fresh content and this is also the rubber really meets the road as to whether this story can stand on its own. There is still hope because the story is good and the actors are not bad. I do wish they had stuck with the original TMOPB director.
The thing is the VVIP will be very far ahead and all kinds of clips and pirated versions, spoilers etc will leak out.,,
